“Based on pentahelix, collaboration and engagement between the world of higher education and the world of business and industry is a necessity and the demands of the times towards an entrepreneurial university that needs to translate scientific and technological findings into practical benefits to improve the economic and social welfare of the community. FPH UI’s collaboration with PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) in the tri dharma of higher education for 3 years, is FPH UI’s real effort to realize the vision mentioned above. We hope that with the support and prayers of all academics, FPH UI will succeed in achieving its goals and benefit from the collaboration with PT HMMI, for the sake of the progress of FPH UI, which will be even more superior in the future,” said the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., responded to the signing of the cooperation agreement between FPH UI and PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) which took place on Tuesday, 19 July 2022.
Focusing on improving the quality of learning in the faculty, especially for the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Health Study Programs, this cooperation agreement was signed at PT HMMI, Bekasi, West Java, attended by both parties with 19 participants. Present from FPH UI were the Dean, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, MS., D.Sc.; Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc.; Education Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; Cooperation Manager, Alumni and Venture Relations, Indri Hapsari S., S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D.; Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M.; K3 Lecturer, Dr. Ir. Sjahrul Meizar Nasri, M.Sc.; as well as the Coordinator and Staff of the Collaboration Subunit, Alumni Relations and Ventures. Meanwhile, from PT HMMI, present the President, Mr. Choi Yoon Seok; HoG, Mr. Kim Myung Sob; Chief of Safety Officer, I Wayan Bagiarta and his staff.
The development of higher education tri-dharma activities, this cooperation agreement mainly focuses on the K3 sector, especially safety training, environmental health, and waste treatment. There are 15 safety training modules included in this cooperation agreement, namely: noise experience, manual material handling, lock out tag out (LOTO), electrical safety, safety helmet experience and shoes safety (safety helmet/boots impact experience), rigging and lifting experience, safety harness experiences, how to use a light fire extinguisher (APAR), confined space experience, virtual reality safety experience, experience evacuation in an emergency, the first experience of CPR – AED (first aid), experience the impact of not using safety glasses, display of personal protective equipment (PPE), folding ladder (portable ladder), and waste management.
The training received by students regarding this matter will later be entered into the semester credit system and included in the courses of the study program concerned. The implementation of this collaborative activity with PT HMMI is also intended to support the Independent Campus Learning Program launched by the government.
In addition to the main focus above, there are several other things listed in this cooperation agreement, including conducting research at PT HMMI for FPH UI lecturers and students, implementing field learning practices at PT HMMI for FPH UI students, and sharing knowledge from PT HMMI to FPH UI, for example, as a resource person from practitioners. At the signing of this cooperation agreement, FPH UI also had the opportunity to visit the safety training center and production line of PT HMMI.
“The hope is not limited to the quality of learning for students, but this cooperation agreement can also facilitate safety training for staff at FPH UI, such as technicians, occupational health, safety and environmental committees, facility staff, and household staff, so they can be more careful and pay attention to safety while working. Apart from that, lecturers can also conduct research related to car assembly automation work at Hyundai,” concluded FPH UI’s Manager of Collaboration, Alumni Relations, and Ventures, Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D.
PT HMMI is the only electric car manufacturer in Indonesia with complete, interactive, and high-technology training facilities. It became the basis for selecting PT HMMI as a cooperation partner for FPH UI. (wrk)
