Friday, September 16, 2022, the Faculty of Public Health Universitas Indonesia (FPH UI) welcomed seventeen students and three lecturers from Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) Thailand and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM) Malaysia. They are participants of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program (UI-CREATES) who will undergo the program in Indonesia for 2 (two) months, 1 (one) week offline and the rest will be conducted online. After completing the entire series of programs, participants will be entitled to 2 credits and an official transcript from Universitas Indonesia.
OHS UI-CREATES ceremony was opened by the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc. and attended by Person in Charge of UI-CREATES OHS Program, Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., M.O.H.S., Ph.D.; Dr. Pongsit Boonruksa (Suranaree University), Dr. Pornthip Yenjai, Ph.D (Suranaree University), dan Dr Ismaniza Ismail (UiTM) and all students.
“This program is useful as a forum for learning and sharing knowledge, active participation, and widening friendships and networks at the international level,” said Prof. Mondastri in his opening remarks. This program is interesting because it is not only giving the student on lecture activities, but also give opportunity for the participants on experiencing cultural activity and also sharpening soft skills. “This event is very good for all of us to improve our social, cross-cultural and English skills,” said Dr. Pongsit from SUT while presenting his speech. Also adding dr. Ismaniza from UITM said that this activity is useful for producing new leaders and for increasing self-capacity.
As a form of inauguration, representatives from each university signed an official cooperation agreement. The tokens of appreciation were also handed over from FPH UI to UITM and SUT, as well as souvenirs from SUT to FPH UI and UITM.
OHS UI-CREATES organized by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety FPH UI. After it was officially opened, there was also a Faculty Tour and games guided by the OHS FPH UI Student Association, OHSC. During the series of events, there are 23 OHSC members who will help as student buddies as well as organizers. The series of events consisted of public lectures, industrial visits, and cultural visits. For industrial visits, students will be taken to the pharmaceutical company PT. Actavis; and a construction company, PT. PP Property. The participants also invited to visit cultural tourism spots in Jakarta, including the National Monument, National Museum, Istiqlal Grand Mosque, and Batik Museum where participants will feel the sensation of traditional batik painting.
OHS UI-CREATES is expected to be a good forum for participants to understand the condition of OHS in Indonesia and learn about Indonesian culture. Furthermore, OHS UI-CREATES is also expected to be able to carve beautiful memories in the hearts of the participants and their supervisors. The experience of interacting with fellow students, especially with foreign students, is a valuable experience for Undergraduate Students from OHS Study Program. “We hope this program will become a very memorable experience for all students and student buddies,” said the president of OHSC FPH UI, Nadya Putri.
