Receive a Visit from SMA Nuraida Islamic Boarding School Bogor, FPH UI Explains Study Program Profile and Scholarships

“The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) is one of the faculties in the health sciences at the Universitas Indonesia (UI), together with 4 (four) other faculties, namely the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Nursing. FPH UI itself focuses on how to prevent disease in society, or what is usually called preventive action,” said Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., in his remarks at the reception of visiting students from SMA Nuraida Islamic Boarding School (IBS) Bogor on Thursday, November 9 , 2023, at the FPH UI Hall.

Apart from giving a speech, Dr. Asih also explained the general profile of FPH UI as well as explanations about the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program to approximately 180 visiting participants. Through his presentation, Dr. Asih said that currently FPH UI has 4 (four) undergraduate study programs, namely the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, Nutrition Undergraduate Study Program, Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Undergraduate Study Program. “In all study programs, there are various scholarships that students can apply for later to develop their potential through international mobility activities, such as scholarships from the government to take part in the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA),” explained Dr. Asih.

Furthermore, an explanation regarding the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program was delivered by Lecturer from the Department of Nutrition, Ir. Siti Arifah Pujonarti, M.P.H., and Nurul Dina Rahmawati, S.Gz., M.Sc. The profile of the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program, as the study program with the number 1 level of rigor at FPH UI in the 2022 UI entrance selection, was presented by Ir. Siti Arifah by explaining various current nutritional issues in society. Apart from that, Nurul Dina added various information regarding scholarship applications and student activities. “Learning is not only focused on the knowledge we want to gain, but also on the benefits we can share with society later as a form of our service,” said Nurul Dina.

In the explanation regarding the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, the Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M. “The Environmental Health Study Program is a study program that aims to produce graduates who are able to analyze environmental exposure risks, predict health impacts due to environmental exposure, and develop alternative solutions to environmental health problems in accordance with technological advances as well as applicable ethics and laws,” said Dr. Ema.

Explanations about study programs and various scholarships that can be obtained by UI students are a special attraction for Nuraida IBS Bogor High School students. FPH UI hopes that by increasing the exposure of high school students to information about public health science and college life, it will increase their interest in continuing their education at FPH UI in the future.
