Dean of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof. Dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., together with the Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc.; Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations and Ventures, Prof. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., and FPH UI Student Affairs Manager, Dien Anshari, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., have just carried out collaborative visits to several partner institutions in South Korea on January 11 – 13 2024. This collaborative visit broadly discusses the short student mobility program, joint research, as well as several programs related to the tri dharma of higher education.
During the cooperation signing visit to Soonchunhyang University (11/1) and Hansung University (12/1), FPH UI leaders had similar discussion points. The points discussed at these two meetings were around the short student mobility program where Soonchunhyang University students will learn about Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) at FPH UI. Apart from that, other possible activities were also discussed, such as joint research and publication as well as guest lectures.
Meanwhile, during its visit to Seoul National University (12/1), FPH UI explored cooperation around the short student mobility program in the field of environmental health. FPH UI leaders had the opportunity to visit the Global Health Research Center and Environmental Health Research Center owned by one of the leading universities in South Korea which is ranked 41st in the world based on the QS World University Rankings 2024.
Apart from visiting several universities, the leadership of FPH UI also made an exploratory visit to Posture AI. Posture AI is a startup company that uses posture checking devices and AI software to improve a person’s posture and reduce back pain. This posture science platform monitors and analyzes user data throughout the day to provide targeted pain interventions. Meet Esther Lee, CEO of Posture AI; William Choi, Co-Founder; and Siwon Kim, Senior Associate, FPH UI leaders discussed the possibility of research collaboration where topic ideas and development models related to health were initiated by FPH UI, while the development of AI software and instruments was carried out by Posture AI. “An example of the application of this idea is the development of an instrument to measure sitting posture for heavy equipment operators in mining companies and high-risk postures that cause falls in the elderly,” explained Prof. Indri.
One of the ways FPH UI focuses on internationalization is reflected in collaboration with several foreign partners such as institutions in South Korea. Through this internationalization effort, FPH UI strives to continue to improve the quality of education, research and teaching which will provide many benefits for the institution, its students, and alumni.
