Students from the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) have once again made achievements in international competitions. Salwa Anfa, a 2021 Environmental Health undergraduate student, won a Bronze Medal in the Class G category: Robotics/Electronics/Automation/IoT and Application/Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) at the International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition event (IPITEx) or Thailand Inventors’ Day on 1 – 6 February 2024 in Bangkok. Together with his teammates, namely Faza Fahimatul Ilmiyah and Aulia Shinta Madani, 2021 Statistics students, and Ilham Satrio Wicaksono, 2021 Metallurgical Engineering student, Salwa created a prototype called StudeRent.
StudeRent is a prototype in the form of an application that is used as a rental platform for students. This prototype can provide various college equipment needs related to practical tools and committee support. Like e-commerce, StudeRent provides a place for students who want to earn income by renting their lecture equipment to other students who need it. The scope is unlimited, and this application can be used by all UI students. There is also a guaranteed system which will be a form of collaboration with the campus in the use of SSO (Single sign-on).
“This prototype seeks to create sustainability, where when practicum tools and materials are usually used occasionally, they can be reused in the form of rental to other students who equally need them. “Apart from not causing waste, we also want to help students get their practicum needs at a relatively cheaper price,” explained Salwa.
The competition is organized by the National Research Council of Thailand, which promotes and encourages research, discovery, innovation, and technology transfer to relevant users in the private and public sectors. This competition is attended by researchers, professionals, students, and students who want to collaborate with investors to promote their products through exhibitions. Through the achievements he has achieved, Salwa and his team hope that the prototype can be launched as an application that is directly beneficial to other people. (ITM)
