FPH UI Introduces the World of Public Health to Students of MAN 1 Malang City

Depok, March 31, 2026 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed an educational visit from 141 students of MAN 1 Malang City on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The event took place at the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room and was part of an initiative to introduce students to the world of higher education, particularly in the field of public health.

The visit was warmly received by the faculty leadership and study program administrators of FPH UI. Among the speakers was the Manager of Academic Affairs, Internationalization, Student Affairs, and Alumni of FPH UI, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., who provided an overview of FPH UI, its education system, student admission pathways, as well as academic and career development opportunities available to students.

In her presentation, Dr. Laila Fitria stated, “FPH UI not only focuses on strengthening academic excellence, but also encourages students to gain international experience, engage in organizational activities, and prepare for their future careers. We provide many opportunities for students to develop holistically.”

Further presentations on undergraduate programs were delivered by the heads of study programs. The Head of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program, Dr. Tiara Amelia, S.K.M., M.Sc., explained the curriculum, graduate competencies, and career prospects in public health, which continue to expand and remain highly relevant to today’s global health challenges.

Dr. Tiara Amelia remarked, “Public Health graduates play a strategic role in promotive and preventive health efforts. Through an adaptive curriculum that responds to contemporary needs, we prepare students to address health challenges at both national and global levels.”

The Head of the Undergraduate Environmental Health Study Program, Fitri Kurniasari, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., also presented the important role of environmental health in maintaining community well-being, including career opportunities in environmental sectors, industry, and government institutions.

She explained, “Environmental health is one of the key pillars of sustainable development. Our graduates are equipped with the skills to identify and manage environmental risks that impact public health.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Undergraduate Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Study Program, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., highlighted the importance of implementing occupational safety and health practices across various industrial sectors, as well as the growing career opportunities for OHS graduates.

According to Abdul Kadir, “Occupational safety and health is not only an industrial necessity, but also an essential part of comprehensive workforce protection. Career prospects for OHS graduates continue to grow alongside increasing awareness of the importance of safe and healthy work cultures.”

The students of MAN 1 Malang City enthusiastically participated in the entire series of activities, including an interactive question-and-answer session. The event is expected to broaden students’ perspectives regarding higher education options and motivate them to pursue further studies, particularly in the field of public health.

Through this visit, FPH UI reaffirms its commitment to providing broad access to information for prospective students while introducing the strategic role of public health in national development. (wrk)
