Depok, December 6, 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia (UI), once again held the Online Seminar (SEMOL) Series 14 titled “Vision to Action: Adaptive Leadership for Indonesia’s Golden Transformation.” The seminar was organized by the Master’s Program in Public Health at FPH UI on Saturday, December 6, 2025, via Zoom Workplace, featuring cross-sector speakers and attended by participants from various regions across Indonesia.
The seminar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K. In her opening remarks, Prof. Indri emphasized that the transformation toward Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) requires leaders who are not only capable of formulating a vision, but also able to translate it into concrete actions that are responsive to social, technological, and community needs.
The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, S.K.M., M.D.M., and featured three speakers: dr. Widyastuti, M.K.M., Senior Trainer at the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of DKI Jakarta Province; Yunita Dyah Suminar, S.K.M., M.Sc., M.Si., Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office; and Drs. Aryono Bambang Ardyo, Director of PT Kievit Indonesia.
In her presentation, dr. Widyastuti highlighted the importance of synergy between heart-centered leadership and adaptive leadership within the bureaucracy. She stressed that leadership grounded in human values, empathy, integrity, and sincerity is key to building trust and reducing resistance to change within organizations. She also added that adaptive leadership is essential for civil servants to respond swiftly to change without losing organizational direction and purpose.
Meanwhile, Yunita Dyah Suminar presented the practice of adaptive leadership in the implementation of health policies in Central Java. “Adaptive leadership focuses on a leader’s ability to adjust to change, deal with uncertainty, and guide organizations through complex challenges,” said Yunita. She also underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration, including with higher education institutions. According to her, synergy among local governments, community health cadres, and academics is crucial to ensure that health transformation is truly felt by the community.
In the subsequent session, Drs. Aryono Bambang Ardyo provided an industry-sector perspective on competitiveness and innovation. He emphasized the importance of a high-performance mindset. “A long and accomplished career always begins with a single small step taken with a clear purpose,” he remarked. Furthermore, he asserted that innovation is not only about products, but also about mindset, guided by the principle that speed in learning and the courage to experiment are more important than waiting for perfection.
Participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the many questions raised, highlighting topics such as cross-sector collaboration mechanisms, ways to address challenges in program implementation at the regional level, and strategies to strengthen an innovation culture in both bureaucracy and industry. The discussion was dynamic and reflected strong interest in applying adaptive leadership in real-world contexts.
Through the organization of FPH UI SEMOL Series 14, FPH UI is expected to continue serving as a platform for learning and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen leadership capacity in the field of health. (EAR)
