Jakarta, February 26, 2026 – Recognizing that future occupational health challenges require strong synergy between academics and regulators, the leadership of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at Universitas Indonesia continues to strengthen impactful collaboration with government institutions. This commitment was reflected in the participation of FPH UI leaders in an official invitation from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia at the opening ceremony of the General Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Expert Development and Certification program, which was also attended by the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, Ph.D.
This initiative goes beyond formal attendance; it represents FPH UI’s concrete commitment to aligning educational vision with national industrial needs. On this occasion, FPH UI Professor Prof. Fatma Lestari, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., who also serves as a Chair of the National OHS Council, presented the faculty’s strategic future directions. The main focus highlighted was the acceleration of internationalization programs and the strengthening of higher education pathways relevant to evolving global demands.
Toward World-Class OHS Education
FPH UI plans to expand its contribution through the development of a Doctoral (PhD) Program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and a Dual Degree Master’s (S2) OHS program. This initiative is part of the faculty’s vision to internationalize OHS education, ensuring that Indonesian graduates have globally recognized competitiveness and are able to address complex international challenges.
Certification Innovation for Early-Career Graduates
In line with this vision, the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration of FPH UI, Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., MOHS., Ph.D., proposed an innovative initiative for students. She encouraged the establishment of a mechanism through which graduates of the Bachelor’s (S1) OHS program could obtain the General OHS Expert Certificate as part of their Diploma Supplement (SKPI).
This proposal emphasizes the importance of a portfolio-based assessment mechanism, where competencies developed during academic study can be formally recognized. It is expected to provide significant added value for young graduates as they enter the workforce with recognized professional certification readiness.
This meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening the relationship between the university and the Ministry of Manpower. Through this impactful collaboration, FPH UI remains optimistic in its mission to produce outstanding human resources who will safeguard the occupational safety and health of workers across the nation.
