This moment marked his official appointment to the functional librarian position within UI.
In response to the promotion, Fikri Wijaya stated that this achievement is not only personally meaningful but also highlights the strategic role of librarians within the academic ecosystem, particularly at FPH UI. He emphasized that librarians serve as academic partners in supporting knowledge discovery and strengthening scientific literacy.
Since beginning his career as a librarian in 2001, Fikri has undertaken various service roles, including circulation services, reference services, and the development of library automation systems. With this experience, he believes that librarians are not merely responsible for managing collections but also actively support the academic community in literature searching, enhancing information literacy, and strengthening research capacity through the services of Pusinfokesmas FPH UI.
Currently, Fikri focuses on developing specialized reference services, including comprehensive literature search assistance as part of peer review electronic search strategies, as well as the development of thematic LibGuides, particularly for online databases subscribed to by the university. These initiatives are expected to serve as relevant and practical tools that support the academic community in conducting more systematic and high-quality literature searches.
This functional appointment also serves as new motivation for Fikri Wijaya to expand collaboration opportunities, respond to users’ literacy needs, and strengthen the role of librarians as adaptive, solution-oriented, and dedicated academic partners. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of the faculty, fellow educational staff, and lecturers, and hopes that continued collaboration will further enhance inclusive and transformative information services at FPH UI.
The Dean of FPH UI, Prof. Dr. Indri Hapsari, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., also conveyed her appreciation for this achievement. “This promotion is the result of hard work, consistency, and commitment in carrying out professional responsibilities. We hope this accomplishment will serve as motivation to further improve the quality of information services and strengthen the role of Pusinfokesmas FPH UI as a reference center for public health information,” she stated.
FPH UI hopes that with this new functional position, Fikri Wijaya will continue to innovate in the development of library and information services, in line with FPH UI’s values of noble character and excellent performance, while delivering meaningful impact on the quality of academic services at FPH UI.
