Abraham Theodore, student of the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program, Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) Class of 2021, together with teammates from the same study program, namely Layra Azkadzkiya, Putri Sajida, and Rista Azzulfa won 2nd place in the Dietetic Contest, Hari 64th National Nutrition (HGN), Association of Indonesian Nutrition Student Institutions (ILMAGI) on January 28, 2024. The four of them won the Dietetic Contest with the theme “Nutritional Innovation in Facing Triple Burden Malnutrition to Form a Glorious Generation”.
To coincide with National Nutrition Day, ILMAGI held a competition with a theme that discussed how everyone can get and consume nutritious food through local food that can be easily accessed. “We carry out an assessment of a disease case and then create a Nutrition Care Process or integrated nutritional care with menu planning in carrying out nutritional care and approaches to patients in hospitals,” explained Theo, Abraham Theodore’s nickname. “In addition to the food we choose, it must be affordable for the community, we also consider it in terms of budgeting because not all patients are in class 1 or 2 hospitals, but we also consider patients in class 3 so that the food menu we choose will be “choices can be recreated by patients in their respective homes,” he added.
The Nutrition Care Process (NCP) is a systematic approach to providing high quality nutritional care. The process is carried out in four steps, namely Nutrition Assessment, Nutrition Diagnosis, Nutrition Intervention, and Nutrition Monitoring/Evaluating. “The report we make contains disease scenarios, disease pathophysiology, problem assessment through blood test analysis, diagnosis, then intervention with food, then counseling education for patients, as well as monitoring and evaluation,” explained Theo.
“We hope that the work we have created can be used as a model for patients with similar cases. Apart from the considerations mentioned previously, we also apply aesthetic considerations through color and presentation. “For me, some people are actually able to access nutritious food, but perhaps there are limited time and lack of good nutritional knowledge, so many prefer foods with high fat and sugar content,” concluded Theo. So, through the NCP they hope that more and more people will be able to implement a daily intake of good nutrition to be able to get the best benefits from the food they consume, not only for patients in hospitals but also for society in general.
