FPH UI Receives Comparative Study Visit from Universtas Negeri Malang

On Monday, November 13, 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a benchmarking visit from the Universitas Negeri Malang. A total of 8 lecturers and staff from the Department of Public Health Sciences, Universitas Negeri Malang were welcomed into the FPH UI Professor’s Room. Present as a resource person during this visit was the Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs, FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc.; FPH UI Academic Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; as well as the Human Resources (HR) Subunit Coordinator of FPH UI, Dwi Asijati, S.E.

In accordance with the purpose of the proposed visit, namely wanting to find out more about the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program and increasing the capacity of human resources (HR) at FPH UI, the resource persons provided material and discussions about the Bachelor of Public Health and Human Resources Study Program at FPH UI. FPH UI Academic Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria explained information regarding the implementation of the 2021 National Curriculum, as well as the use of laboratories in the learning process.

“Preparations for implementing the 2021 National Curriculum into the FPH UI Bachelor of Public Health Curriculum have actually started since the beginning of 2022,” said Dr. Laila. He stated that the steps taken included creating an equivalent matrix for the National Curriculum and the existing Undergraduate Public Health Curriculum, evaluating each course in the existing Undergraduate Public Health Curriculum, holding regular meetings 2 (two) weeks to discuss the evaluation results with each department and study group in FPH UI, implementation of the Curriculum Adjustment Workshop, as well as submission of a decree for curriculum changes to UI to be implemented for new students in 2023. Doctor Laila also said that FPH UI has several laboratories located both in the RIK Building and in the FPH UI Building which are used for the learning process. These laboratories are the Nutrition Laboratory, Environmental Health Laboratory, Occupational Safety and Health Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, and Health Education and Communication Technology Laboratory (TPKK).

Meanwhile, the FPH UI HR Subunit Coordinator, Dwi Asijati, S.E., conveyed information regarding strategies for strengthening the quality of human resources at FPH UI. Strategies to strengthen the quality of human resources implemented at FPH UI include the implementation of capacity building for lecturers and education staff, doctoral education for young lecturers, implementation of joint research or research collaboration with university researchers and well-known foreign companies, participation of lecturers in reputable international scientific meetings , joint publications by UI lecturers with researchers from well-known overseas universities and companies, as well as conducting research with UI diaspora researchers who are affiliated with overseas universities/institutions. “The strategy of strengthening human resources at FPH UI is very helpful in managing lecturer promotions and encouraging lecturers to fulfill BKD,” said Dwi Asijati.

Apart from presenting information, Dr. Asih also facilitated discussion sessions with visiting participants who asked many questions about the curriculum, laboratory facilities and HR management at FPH UI. (wrk)
