OHS FPH UI Students Visit PT Petrolab Services

The world of technology, especially in terms of testing industrial hygiene parameters, is developing rapidly, especially in terms of biological monitoring testing of workers’ exposure to organic compounds. To provide insight into the latest technology in the world of OHS, the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) invites its students to carry out practical visits regarding the instrumentation used in measuring industrial hygiene parameters.

A practical visit was carried out at PT Petrolab Services on Friday, April 19, 2024, attended by 43 students of the 6th Semester Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Undergraduate Study Program and accompanied by Laboratory Assistants and practicum assistants.

PT Petrolab Services is an accredited testing laboratory that provides testing services in several industrial sectors, including energy, manufacturing, oil, mining, transportation, industrial hygiene, and instrument calibration.

This visit is one of the learning activities for the Industrial Hygiene Practicum Course. The agenda for this activity is to carry out industrial hygiene measurements in the laboratory using AAS, ICP, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, HPLC, and GC-Headspace instrumentation.

The visit was received by the General Manager of PT Petrolab Services, Budhi Baskoro Adhi who introduced the instrumentation used in industrial hygiene measurements. Apart from that, students are also given new insight into the importance of HSE in the laboratory sector and the relationship between laboratories and industrial hygiene.

It is hoped that from this visit students will know and understand the industrial hygiene measurement process in the laboratory. (FNF)
