Organizing Posbindu, FPH UI in Collaboration with Depok City Health Office

Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) held a routine Integrated Assistance Post (Posbindu PTM). This time, Posbindu collaborated with the Depok City Health Office and raised the theme “Productive Age Screening and Socialization of Posbindu at the Educational Institution”.

Posbindu is one of the promotive and preventive efforts to detect and control the early presence of risk factors for non-communicable diseases (PTM) in an integrated manner within the FKM UI extended family.

In the seminar session which was held in Hall A of FKM UI, a resource person from the Depok City Health Office, Dr. Mahfudah, delivered a presentation on the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Program Policy. “NCDs are the main cause of death. So it is necessary to pay more attention to controlling these NCDs, especially in educational institutions where there is a wider age range, from young people to the elderly, which of course has more diverse risk factors,” said Dr. Mahfuda. Dr. Mahfudah also added that stroke, ischemic heart disease, and diabetes are the top 3 diseases that cause the most deaths in Indonesia. Things that can be do in prevention efforts are by maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle. “Posbindu is one of the early detection efforts as a preventive measure or control of NCDs,” added Dr. Mahfudah.

The main activity of posbindu is to screen weight, height, waist circumference, blood sugar, uric acid, cholesterol and doctor’s consultation, all of which can be obtained free of charge for the entire FPH UI family. Posbindu participants this time were quite diverse, ranging from students, lecturers, education staff, retired staff, janitors, security officers, and even FPH UI canteen workers.

“The target of posbindu at educational institutions is slightly different, not only the elderly but also all members of the institution, including students. Besides general examination, counseling is also provided. We also open opportunities for collaboration with student organizations, as in previous activities we worked with Epicentrum. This is intended to make Posbindu a place for students to learn to serve the community,” said Dr. Ir. Trini Sudiarti, M.Si., Chairperson of Posbindu Griseta FPH UI.
