Prof. Nasaruddin Umar: Halalbihalal is an Original Product of the Indonesian Nation which is Positive and Full of Meaning

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), held an offline Halalbihalal Idulfitri 1445 Hijriah event with the theme “Hikmah Silaturahmi” in Hall A FPH UI on April 18, 2024. Attended by the leadership and the entire FPH UI extended family, this event presented Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque, Prof. Dr. KH Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. and reading of the holy Koran verses read by the FPH UI Tahsin Community.

Dean of FPH UI, Prof. Dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc. conveyed in his speech that the halalbihalal tradition is an opportunity to apologize to each other and make friends. “Halalbihalal has become part of the tradition in our society. “This habit is certainly not just a custom that is the identity of society, but also contains very noble values in it,” said Prof. Mondastri.

“The world of work has become the second world after our homes so it cannot be separated from our daily lives. For this reason, this is the best time to let each other know. In the end, friendship will produce something harmonious and a new enthusiasm to become better.”

Daily Acting Chancellor of the Universitas Indonesia, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., gave a message in his speech to continue to be enthusiastic and join in the learning community, in this case studying the Al-Qur’an. “This is an invitation for all of us to enjoy studying the Koran. “Learn to read and understand in a cheerful atmosphere and with a sense of family,” said Dr. Augustine. Furthermore, he conveyed messages and greetings from UI leaders.

Prof. Dr. KH Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. in his sermon, he said that halalbihalal is a very efficient and positive thing. He said that building relationships is not only done with fellow Muslims but is done with all mankind. “God glorifies all of Adam’s children and grandchildren, so there is no reason for us not to glorify our fellow human beings,” said Prof. Nasaruddin. “Halalbihalal is an original product of the Indonesian people. Keeping in touch is necessary to connect with fellow human beings. In fact, death is not an obstacle to carrying it out.”

Prof. Nasaruddin reminded that staying in touch is not only for fellow humans, but also for the macro cosmos, the entire universe. Apart from bringing rewards, it also saves one another. “Re-sanctifying nature is something that should be done because nature will be friendly if it is in harmony with what we do. The words of Rasulullah SAW: If tomorrow the world ends, you will still plant trees.” said Prof. Nasaruddin.

Prof. Nasaruddin hopes that this gathering will bring new consciousness that no matter how small we do, do something for this earth lillahi ta’ala, because preserving nature is a charity. “It is very important for FPH UI to work on the values of the Koran and Hadith regarding Environmental Health,” explained Prof. Nasaruddin ended the tausiah.

Halabihalal was also enlivened by the performance of The NutriChords who performed singer Rossa’s song entitled “Takkan Berpaling Darimu”. The NutriChords is a vocal and music group consisting of lecturers and students from the Nutrition Study Program class of 2021. Halalbihalal ended with the tradition of shaking hands with all the attendees.
