On Monday, March 25, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a study visit from students from Meitreyawira High School, Jakarta. A total of 25 students and 3 accompanying teachers visited FPH UI with an agenda of campus introduction activities. Through the visit received at the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room, FPH UI strives to provide more in-depth insight to the students participating in the visit regarding the potential and educational opportunities at the University of Indonesia, especially FPH.
FPH UI Academic Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., was present as a resource person by providing information about the general profile of FPH UI as well as the profiles of the four undergraduate study programs at FPH UI. “FPH UI has four undergraduate study programs, all of which have been nationally accredited as superior by the Indonesian Higher Education Health Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM-PTKes). “The four undergraduate study programs are the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, the Nutrition Undergraduate Study Program, the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, and the Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Undergraduate Study Program,” said the FPH UI Academic Manager. Doctor Laila also added that two undergraduate study programs have also been internationally accredited, namely the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program which has been accredited by AUN and the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program which has been accredited by AHPGS.
In his presentation, Dr. Laila also said that the selection process for new student admissions at UI consists of an independent pathway and a national pathway. FPH UI itself has a national admission pathway from SNBP and SNBT as well as an independent pathway through SIMAK and PPKB for both regular and non-regular undergraduate programs.
“Public health science, especially the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program, is a science that combines health cluster sciences with social sciences, in which students not only learn about health and science sciences but also learn how to communicate well, collaborate, manage, and various other social sciences that will support your abilities as a public health expert. “Meanwhile for other undergraduate study programs, namely Nutrition, Environmental Health, and OHS, we learn more about science,” concluded Dr. Laila provided an explanation to the questions of Meitreyawira High School students in Jakarta to focus their studies on public health science.
