On February 28, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a study visit from SMA Negeri 1 Manyar, Gresik, East Java. A total of 230 students visited FPH UI with the aim of obtaining information about lectures. Received in Hall A of FPH UI, attended by the Academic Manager of FPH UI, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., and Secretary of the Department of Nutrition, Ir. Siti Arifah P., M.P.H.
“FPH UI is the oldest public health faculty in Indonesia which currently has ten study programs, namely four undergraduate study programs, four master’s study programs and two doctoral study programs. “All study programs have been accredited as superior nationally,” explained Dr. Laila started her presentation about the general profile of FPH UI. Apart from the general profile, Dr. Laila also explained the profile of each undergraduate study program, namely the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, Nutrition Undergraduate Study Program, Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, and Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Undergraduate Study Program.
Doctor Laila also explained the selection process for new FPH UI student admissions. “Prospective undergraduate students at FPH UI can register through several entrance selections, namely the national SNBP and SNBP routes, as well as the independent route, namely SIMAK and PPKB. SNBP and PPKB are achievement routes using report cards, while SNBT and SIMAK are test routes. All selection routes do not differ in the amount of education costs, because UI applies them Fair Education Operational Costs (BOP-B) system where each student’s education costs are adjusted to the parents’ abilities,” said Dr. Laila.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Department of Nutrition, Ir. Siti Arifah, M.P.H., explained several things about the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program, such as the block system applied in the nutrition study program, the subjects studied, as well as opportunities to obtain scholarships for nutrition students.
During this visit, three FPH students who were also members of BEM FPH UI were also present, namely Naomi Jaisy Diva Balqish, Regina Imma Nadya, and Andrea. These three students shared their experiences regarding lecture activities, student activities, and tips for facing college entrance selection. (wrk)
