On Thursday, December 7, 2023, Public Health: National Public Health Journal (National Public Health Journal) FPH UI received a visit from the Master of Public Health Study Program at Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. As stated by Dr. Yendris Krisno Syamruth, S.K.M., M.Kes., representative of the Undana teaching staff who is also the chief editor of the Timorese Journal of Public Health, the purpose of the visit was to study the governance of the Public Health Journal so that it can be indexed nationally and internationally.
Accepted by Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H., and the team in the Professor’s room, Building G, 1st Floor, FPH UI, Dr. Yendris shared his experience that Undana requires all undergraduate study program students to publish as a graduation requirement. “Therefore, we created journals under the faculty to facilitate this, even though only one is indexed by Sinta 4 out of five existing journals,” he said.
Starting this year, FPH Undana plans to revive existing journals, including the Timorese Journal of Public Health, and is aimed at facilitating master’s program students to publish their research, so that they are not mixed up with undergraduate students. In accordance with the purpose of the visit, Dr. Al Asyary then explained the publication flow of the Public Health Journal as well as tips for getting articles relatively quickly, namely by creating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between two journals from different institutions to exchange manuscripts. “All journals in Indonesia are experiencing a shortage of manuscripts, plus SINTA’s rule not to publish articles from the same affiliation as the journal also adds to this problem. “Therefore, if there is an MoU to exchange manuscripts, both journals will benefit,” explained Dr. Al.
Apart from that, during this visit discussions were also discussed regarding article processing costs, non-lecturer labor, and management of the Public Health Journal website to be studied and implemented at FPH Undana. (Dif)
