Faculty of Public Helath University of Indonesia (FPH UI) and Universitas Indonesia (UI) have guaranteed the open and equitable access to education for prospective students. FKM UI is committed to being part of an anti-discrimination and transparent educational institution that is more sensitive to prospective students coming from family with the lowest 20% income by providing various scholarship programs and tuition fee payment scheme.
Faculty of Public Helath University of Indonesia (FPH UI) and Universitas Indonesia (UI) in collaboration with the government to provide educational assistance through the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) and Bidikmisi (Educational Tuition for High-Achieving Low-Income Students) programs specifically intended for students from low-income families as well as provide more attention to students from the Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) Regions through the Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik). As a form of commitment in this regard, a number of more than 200 FKM UI students in 2022 received scholarships from various institutions, both government and private.
In 2022, 46 out of 233 students who come from low income families successfully graduated from college. Among those 46 students, 43 of them managed to graduate on time within 8 semesters.
For those underprivileged students of Universitas Indonesia, the university provided a paid dormitory which they can live in at an affordable price.
Bidikmisi is a financial aid for prospective students who are economically disadvantaged, yet have a good academic potential that allows them to receive higher education in a superior study program until they graduate on time. Bidikmisi is provided for free by the Indonesian government for outstanding students. Recipients of the scholarship will receive full tuition fees from the Ministry of Education and Culture which is valid for 8 semesters. Recipients will also receive funds to cover their living expenses at a predetermined amount. Starting from 2021, Bidikmisi officially changed their name to Kartu Indonesia Pintar-Kuliah (KIP-K). The financing scheme obtained by recipients remains the same as before, which fully covers their tuition fees for a maximum of 8 semesters as well as their living expenses.
Apart from Bidikmisi/KIP-K, the Indonesian government also provides Afirmasi Pendidikan Tinggi (ADiK) which is a scholarship for high school graduates from frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas; Orang Asli Papua (Indigenous Papuans) in accordance with Indonesian Law number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua Province; or children of migrant workers.

The following are some of the programs which has been held to improve access to basic services:
1) Empowerment of Posyandu Officers: Increasing knowledge of 1000 Hari Pertama Kelahiran (First 1000 Days of Birth) through education and communication of educational information in the Pondok Petir Health Center, Depok.
2) Teen Room: Innovative efforts to improve health, nutrition, and productivity of teenagers in Kepulauan Seribu, 2022.
3) Terazi Ibu: Increasing nutritional literacy for Posyandu Officers in Kepulauan Seribu.
4) Mother Class CERIA: Nutritional intelligence for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers to reduce stunting.
5) Development of Drinking Water Access in Rural Areas: A community-based water provision to achieve access to safe drinking water in Banjar Dauh Peken, Bali.
6) Modeling Potential Distribution of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) as an alternative drought tolerant crop in Arid Lombok Island, Indonesia using MaxEnt.
7) Development of Breadfruit (Artocarpus Altilis) as an alternative food and disaster MRE (Meal Ready to Eat).
8) DAHSYAT Officer: Empowered officers, no stunting on two year old babies. A program specifically made for Posyandu officers to improve their capacity in the field of anthropometrics and toddler nutrition in efforts to accelerate stunting reduction in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency.
9) DAHSYAT Officer: Empowered officers, healthy pregnant women. A program specifically made for Posyandu officers to improve their capacity in the field of nutrition for pregnant women in efforts to accelerate stunting reduction in Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency.

This contribution is in the form of poverty reduction in the field of nutrition through the policy brief “Working Together in Accelerating Stunting in North Sumatra Province”
