The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) is holding another workshop on April 24-25, 2024. The theme is Writing Scientific Research Articles and Preparing Collaborative Research Grant Applications by presenting Professor Dino Pisaniello as speaker. The workshop, which was held in a mixed manner in Room A101, Building A FPH UI, was attended by FPH UI students and lecturers as well as inbound students.
Adjunct Professor in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene University of Adelaide, Professor Dino Pisaniello, delivered his material in two different modules. Writing Scientific Research Articles, delivered on April 24, 2024, aims to provide insight into writing peer-reviewed journal articles and preparing collaborative research grant applications. One of the expected results is to provide the ability to describe the benefits of formal publications for individual and research organizations as well as maximizing the impact of the research findings carried out.
Professor Dino explained that research is something that has value, so it is useful to do. “All new knowledge is obtained through research. “Formal research that produces new knowledge can help us to understand more issues or problems,” said Prof. Dino.
“Efforts are made to resolve all issues or problems through various solutions, then their success is evaluated, until finally we are able to offer a strong recommendation. There are so many issues in public health and occupational health that affect so many people. “Public health is about providing interventions on various existing issues that are evidence-based and participatory in nature,” he explained.
Furthermore, Professor Dino explained his second module entitled Preparing Collaborative Research Grant Applications on April 25, 2024. Preparing Collaborative Research Grant Applications aims to provide preparation for the application of grant funds for collaborative research.
At this workshop, Mila Tejamaya, S.Sc., MOHS., Ph.D., as Chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Undergraduate Study Program, was also present, who conveyed the grant funds available at UI so that students could apply for them for research. “There are two types of grant funds provided by UI, namely internal which includes International Indexed Publication Grants (PUTI), UI Innovation Funding Program Grants (PPI), UI Community Service and Empowerment Grants (PPM), and UI Incubate (Start-Up) Grants. “Externals include Kemendikbudristek Research Grants, Kemendikbudristek Community Service Program Grants, and others which usually come from international agencies or institutions,” said Mila Tejamaya.
Through the implementation of workshops and the socialization of grant funds available at UI, it is hoped that more scientific publications will be produced by both students and lecturers, especially from the FPH UI environment. (ITM)
