Immunization is one of the rights of citizens that must be guaranteed by the government. In this regard, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and other partners have developed a new immunization program strategic framework, namely the National Immunization Strategy (NIS) 2025—2029 which is in line with the 2030 national immunization agenda. For this reason, the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia (FPH UI), in this case the Center for Health Economics and Policy Studies (PKEKK), is trusted by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, WHO, UNICEF and other partners to become study consultants for the preparation of the National Immunization Strategy (NIS) Document. 2025—2029, with one of the tasks being to hold training activities and kick off meetings for NIS 2025—2029. This activity was carried out offline at the Aston Sentul Lake Hotel and ended at the UI Health Sciences Cluster Building on Monday, April 29, 2024, to Thursday, May 2, 2024.
NIS 2025-2029 training activities and kick off meetings were attended by 70 participants, including from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Food and Drug Supervisory Agency, PT. Biofarma, CDC Indonesia, World Bank, USAID, DFAT, National Immunization Committee, National Expert Committee for PD3I Surveillance, Indonesian Doctors Association, and other national and international institutions. “FPH UI as an educational institution is committed to continuing to contribute and be actively involved in ensuring the continuity of immunization as the main pillar of public health in Indonesia. “We are ready to contribute to research related to the impact of immunization, advocating for the government and promoting health to the community, providing accurate data, as well as monitoring and evaluating immunization coverage in Indonesia,” said Deputy Dean for Resources, Ventures and General Administration, Dr. Milla Herdayati, S.K.M., M.Sc., in her speech at the Closing Ceremony for the Preparation of the 2025-2029 National Immunization Strategy Document.
At the closing event of this activity, FPH UI then also presented material entitled “Landscape and FPH UI’s Input for Immunization Program in Indonesia” which was delivered by Dr. Tri Yunis Miko. Based on the results of its research, FPH UI advises the government and other institutions involved in immunization programs to increase the capacity of human resources implementing immunization, increase public knowledge and awareness of immunization through health promotion, strengthen the legal basis for immunization, and plan and evaluate immunization programs periodically.
