FPH UI Welcomes Visit from SMA Negeri 34 Jakarta Students to Attract Prospective Students

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) is one of the leading faculties in the field of health sciences at UI. With four undergraduate programs that have received excellent accreditation at the national level, and two of them holding international accreditation, it has attracted the interest of high school students considering their higher education options. On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, FPH UI hosted a visit from over 100 students from SMA Negeri 34 Jakarta. The purpose of the visit was for the students to gather information about the programs and academic offerings at FPH UI.

The visit was attended by Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Academic Manager of FPH UI, and Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H., Secretary of the Environmental Health Study Program, who served as speakers for the event. During her presentation, Dr. Laila provided an overview of FPH UI, covering topics such as the student admission selection process, capacity, tuition fees, teaching methods, and facilities. “The tuition fees at UI are not as expensive as often portrayed in the media. The UKT (Single Tuition Fee) at FPH UI is divided into five categories, which are determined based on the economic situation of incoming students,” explained Dr. Laila regarding the costs of education at FPH UI. In addition to giving explanations, Dr. Laila also took questions from the visiting students, who were eager to learn more about the areas of interest, career prospects, and other aspects of the programs.

Furthermore, Dr. Al Asyary discussed the Environmental Health Bachelor’s Degree Program. “Environmental health focuses not only on environmental vectors but also on the costs, or how much it costs to address the impacts of environmental damage. This includes environmental health economics. Environmental damage can lead to indirect national losses, such as pollution affecting human health and causing a decline in productivity,” Dr. Al explained, highlighting one of the topics studied in the Environmental Health program.

The information shared during this visit is expected to help the students from SMA Negeri 34 Jakarta in making informed decisions about their future academic paths.
