Focusing on Global Occupational Safety and Health, FPH UI Again Holds OSH UI CREATES

With the theme of Global Occupational Safety and Health, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the University of Indonesia (UI), through the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), is once again organizing the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Universitas Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students (UI CREATES) 2024. This program will be attended by 23 participants from Inje University and Universiti Malaya, and will take place over 10 days from July 21 to 31, 2024.

“UI CREATES 2024 is a platform for knowledge exchange, building partnerships, and inspiring innovations that can transform occupational safety and health practices globally. As we explore these important topics, we must also recognize the shifts and cultural similarities between Indonesia, South Korea, and Malaysia. Each country has a rich cultural heritage and dynamic approaches to addressing modern challenges while honoring traditional values. This cultural exchange enriches our understanding and strengthens our collaborative efforts. FPH UI encourages all participants to actively engage, share insights, and seek new ways to collaborate. Let’s use this opportunity to learn from each other, appreciate our diverse perspectives, and work towards our shared goals,” said the Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations, and Ventures at FPH UI, Prof. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., during the opening ceremony held on Monday, July 22, 2024, in Room E203, RIK UI.

OSH UI CREATES is an inbound student mobility program where participants will engage in both academic and non-academic activities at the FPH UI campus. The academic activities that partner university students will take part in include attending the Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene course (3 credits) for participants from Universiti Malaya (UM) and the Global Occupational Health and Safety course (3 credits) for participants from Inje University. To complement these courses, partner students will have the opportunity to participate in field and industry visits to observe the direct implementation of OSH practices in the workplace.

In addition to academic activities, partner students will also engage in cultural introductions to Indonesia, learn Indonesian language, take part in cultural trips, and interact with students from the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Bachelor’s Program at FPH UI.

Alongside the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. Kim Taegu from Inje University also expressed his appreciation for the OSH UI CREATES program. “Thank you for giving such a warm welcome to the OSH UI CREATES participants. We feel that this activity presents a great opportunity for collaboration and expanding networks,” said Prof. Kim Taegu.

“We are delighted to welcome the participants of OSH UI CREATES 2024. By organizing this program, we hope to provide valuable experiences for students from UM and Inje in understanding occupational safety and health practices, as well as Indonesian culture. Furthermore, this program is expected to strengthen institutional relationships and enhance cross-border collaboration in education,” said Dr. Mila Tedjamaya, Ph.D., the Chair of the OSH Department at FPH UI.
