From October 2 to 4, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) participated in the 2024 UI Community Service and Empowerment Festival. With the theme “Sosia Saintika: Interwoven Hopes in the Works of the Nation’s Children,” this festival served as a platform for socializing the community service programs that have been implemented. Additionally, this annual event aimed to foster cross-sectoral collaborations in order to carry out and implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
FPH UI contributed by setting up an interactive booth showcasing various research outcomes and community service projects. These research and community service initiatives came from research clusters under the umbrella of the Health Community Service and Empowerment Institute (LPPKM) at FPH UI. Some of the research and community service projects presented at the booth in the form of posters included programs such as Strengthening Disaster-Resilient Healthy Villages, Fishermen Village Training, Clean Water Source Development in the UKK Culinary Center, Emergency Response for High School Students, Ecocraft Ecoenzymes, Strengthening K3 Ambassadors to Build a Safe and Healthy Culture, and Efforts to Accelerate Stunting Reduction.
In addition to showcasing various research and community service projects, FPH UI faculty members also participated as speakers in the parallel talkshows held during the festival. They included Prof. Fatma Lestari, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., who spoke on the topic “Healthy Village, Strong Village: Steps Towards Shared Welfare”; Dr. Rico Kurniawan, S.K.M., M.K.M., who presented on “Welcoming a New Era: Health Tech as the Pillar of Modern Health”; Abdul Kadir, S.K.M., M.Sc., who discussed “Building Healthy Villages: Together We Achieve a Better Life”; Nurul Dina Rahmawati, S.Gz., M.Sc., who talked about “UI in Action: Strategic Steps to Fight Stunting”; and Dr. Budi Hartono, S.Si., M.K.M., who served as the moderator for several talkshow sessions.
At the end of the festival, five FPH UI faculty members were honored with the Best Community Service award in the Health Science Cluster at FPH. The awardees were Abdul Kadir, S.K.M., M.Sc.; Dr. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc.; Dr. Ir.
