FPH UI Strengthens Global Collaboration with Tsinghua University in Essential Medicines Access Research

Depok, January 27, 2026 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia, continues to strengthen its role as a higher education institution that upholds noble values and demonstrates excellent performance through the expansion of international academic collaboration. This commitment was reflected in a meeting between FPH UI and Tsinghua University to discuss strengthening research collaboration in global health systems, particularly in relation to access to essential medicines.

This meeting was part of an academic collaboration between the Center for Health Administration and Policy Studies (CHAMPS) FPH UI and Tsinghua University in a research project titled “Comparative Health System Analysis of Access to Essential Medicines in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Overcoming Barriers and Promoting Equity.” The study focuses on comparative analysis of health systems in low- and middle-income countries to identify barriers and formulate strategies for improving equitable access to medicines.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Tsinghua University and industry partners, including Prof. Li Guanqiao and Ms. Xiangyun Mao from the Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University; Ms. Congzhou Chen from the School of Medicine, Tsinghua University; and Farchan Azzumar, a master’s student at Tsinghua University. Also present were industry representatives Bryan, Deputy CTO of Anvita Pharma Indonesia, and Christian Karol, Head of Innovation Center at Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia.

The discussion took place constructively, highlighting opportunities for cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration in health policy research, including leveraging both academic and industry perspectives to drive innovation and sustainable solutions in health systems. The meeting also served as a platform for exchanging insights on challenges and best practices in ensuring the availability and affordability of essential medicines.

Through strengthening collaboration with Tsinghua University and strategic partners, FPH UI reaffirms its role as a global partner in advancing public health research that is scientifically excellent, purpose-driven, and oriented toward meaningful impact in building more inclusive and equitable health systems.
