Department of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia manages educational programs: i) Epidemiology major in Undergraduate Program in Public Health, ii) Master’s Program, and iii) Doctoral Program in Epidemiology. The Department provides several basic and compulsory Epidemiology courses for all Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, as well as several special courses that must be taken by Epidemiology students.
Master’s in Epidemiology Program has three specializations: Community-based Epidemiology, Clinical Epidemiology, and Field Epidemiology. The Doctoral Program in Epidemiology has two specializations: Community-based Epidemiology and Clinical Epidemiology. The Master’s in Epidemiology Program at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, is the first study program in Indonesia; while, the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology is also the first only available at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia.
Several areas of interest which have been and are being developed in the Department of Epidemiology under three specializations (Community, Clinical, and Field/Applied) based on substance are Epidemiological Surveillance, Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases (such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Dengue Fever, COVID-19, and others), Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases (such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, and others), Reproductive Health Epidemiology, Nutritional Epidemiology, Health Service Epidemiology, Disaster Epidemiology, Social Epidemiology, Perinatal Health Epidemiology, Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology, Occupational Health Epidemiology, and Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology. In the future, to meet the needs of Field Epidemiology, a Public Health Laboratory will be developed in collaboration with relevant parties. In addition, the development of predictive models using Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to be used.
The Department of Epidemiology lecturers have experience in various fields of research and community engagement projects, such as vaccination, maternal and child health, community nutrition, health literacy, health behavior, epidemiological surveillance, occupational health, disasters, and so on.
To become an international standard educational institution for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of Epidemiology.
