Behavior is a factor affecting the level of public health, therefore, behavior supporting public health needs to be developed. Health education seeks to encourage people to voluntarily engage in healthy behavior through a variety of learning methods, both individually, in groups, and in mass. Over time, health promotion has emerged as an approach combining health education with environmental interventions (organizations, politics, economics) so that people can live healthy lives. The sciences studied include Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, and Communications.
The Department of Health Education and Behavioral Sciences studies and develops science focused on behavioral change to be conducive to improving public health. Fields of study include health education for individuals, groups and communities, health advocacy, health media development, and community empowerment. Scientific development is through teaching, research and community engagement activities.
To support the achievement of visions of Universitas Indonesia (UI) and the UI Faculty of Public Health by making the Department a center for the development of science, technology, and public health education with an international reputation that plays an active role in the development of public health profession, particularly health education and promotion and health development movements in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
To develop the Public Health Science through teaching, research, assessment and application of health education and promotion as a method and form of public health intervention in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
