The Bachelor’s degree program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia is the first in Indonesia. This study program is a development of the OHS major in the Bachelor’s degree program in Public Health to meet the demand of graduate users to produce OHS graduates with more specific OHS competencies. The study program curriculum is designed with reference to various elements: government policies and professional organizations in the field of OHS (oil and gas, mining, construction, manufacturing sectors, and so on), relevant curriculum from reputable universities overseas since there have not been the same study program in Indonesia yet, the vision and mission of the university and faculty, as well as other stakeholders such as students, lecturers, alumni, and users. The first batch of students for the study program was enrolled in 2015.
To support the achievement of vision of the UI Faculty of Public Health by being an excellent undergraduate education program to meet community needs and an academic reference in the field of OHS both at the national and Southeast Asian levels.
The Bachelor’s degree program in OHS at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia, aims to create graduates who are competent in identifying, analyzing, and managing risks in the work environment. We focus on developing professionals who are able to apply OHS principles to improve worker safety, health, and welfare as well as organizational effectiveness in various industrial sectors. With a research-based approach and field practice, our graduates are prepared to face the global challenges in the field of OHS.
Qualities of the Bachelor’s degree program in OHS at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia:
Bachelor of Occupational Safety and Health who is able to manage/organize OHS risks through the application of OHS science in collaboration with stakeholders in an ethical and professional manner.
