Chairperson of FPH UI Alumni Association for 2025–2028 Officially Elected: Uniting Alumni through the Makara Ungu Saling Bantu Movement

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) successfully held the General Assembly (Mubes) and General Election (Pemira) of the FPH UI Alumni Association (ILUNI FPH UI) to elect the new board for the 2025–2028 term. The event took place at the Doctoral Promotion Room, Building G, FPH UI, and was attended by Prof. Dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FPH UI, and Prof. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., Manager for Partnerships, Alumni Relations, and Vnetura at FPH UI. The assembly included discussions on the association’s bylaws and work programs, and concluded with the election and official handover to the newly elected Chair and Vice Chair of ILUNI FPH UI.

The purpose of Pemira was to elect new ILUNI leadership for the 2025–2028 period and to strengthen the alumni organizational structure. It also served as a platform to increase awareness and engagement with alumni both in Indonesia and abroad. This year, the election was conducted online via the E-Vote platform (https://e-vote.eduprolanis.my.id/), reflecting the organization’s commitment to leveraging technology in democratic processes. The election ran for two months with the support of 21 committee members who worked intensively to ensure smooth execution at every stage.

Two candidate pairs competed in the election: Idris Ahmad, S.K.M., and Heru Komarudin, S.Kep.Ns., M.K.M.; and Dr. Capt. M. Irwansyah, S.ST., M.Mar., M.K.K.K., and Dwi Octa Amalia, S.K.M., M.K.M. Alumni engagement was notably high, with 1,281 valid votes cast out of 1,800 registered voters. Idris Ahmad and Heru Komarudin emerged victorious with 58.8% of the vote. Idris is an alumnus of the Undergraduate Public Health Program (Health Services Management and Policy concentration, class of 2009), and Heru is an alumnus of the Master’s in Public Health Program (Health Policy and Law concentration, class of 2020).

Candidates underwent a rigorous selection process that included nomination from March 25 to April 15, 2025, followed by verification and confirmation from April 16 to 20. The fit and proper test, conducted from April 27 to 30, was a key assessment of the candidates’ readiness and capabilities. The official candidate announcement was made on May 1, followed by a campaign period, and culminating in the final voting on May 17.

The newly elected leadership brings forward the vision and mission encapsulated in the tagline “Makara Ungu Saling Bantu Movement”—a campaign focused on strengthening intergenerational alumni bonds to create greater impact for Indonesia. With a spirit of mutual awareness, connection, and support, the new board aims to foster a strong alumni network across batches, concentrations, and career paths.

Several strategic programs are already planned to realize this vision:

  • FPH UI-Connect, to enhance communication and alumni networks;

  • FPH UI-Collab, a collaboration hub for internal and external alumni partnerships;

  • FPH UI-Impact, encouraging meaningful alumni contributions to society.

These programs are expected to reinvigorate alumni involvement in national development and reinforce their collective impact.

Throughout the election process, FPH UI played an active role in ensuring transparency, backed by support from the Dean and the Alumni Relations Manager. The dean and leadership team participated in various coordination and mediation forums with the election committee and candidates. Faculty members also encouraged alumni to vote, reflecting strong synergy between the faculty and the alumni association.

Lassie Fitria, member of the 2022–2025 ILUNI FPH UI board and organizing committee, expressed optimism for the new board’s programs over the next three years. She emphasized the importance of engaging alumni from all academic backgrounds and cohorts and maintaining open communication with the faculty, including involving deans and lecturers as advisory members. “It is equally important to strengthen collaboration with program-level alumni associations and improve organizational governance—from administration to readiness for future elections,” Lassie added. She envisioned ILUNI FPH UI as a vibrant alumni network that actively supports faculty initiatives—whether as organizers, mentors, speakers, donors, or sponsors.

The successful implementation of the 2025–2028 ILUNI FPH UI Election not only demonstrated the alumni community’s vibrant democratic spirit but also highlighted the strength of FPH UI’s alumni network as a leading institution in public health. (DFD)
