Depok, September 18, 2025 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again demonstrated its commitment to expanding academic collaboration networks by welcoming a delegation from the Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ), Timor-Leste. During this second visit, both parties discussed follow-up actions on their ongoing tridharma (three pillars of higher education) partnership, particularly focusing on the learning process for UNPAZ doctoral students currently enrolled at UI.

The meeting took place in Room B206, Building B, FPH UI, and was attended by the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri K. The event began with welcoming remarks from Prof. dr. Mondastri K. Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FPH UI, who emphasized the importance of achieving academic competency standards and expressed appreciation for UNPAZ’s trust in partnering with UI. “This program is not a regular one; it is specially designed based on inter-university collaboration. We are committed to providing guidance and training for students to meet the required competency standards throughout their academic journey,” said Prof. Mondastri.

The discussion covered key topics such as the follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), strengthening of teaching methods and guidelines, and mechanisms for academic supervision of doctoral students. One of the main agenda items was the proposal of enrichment programs aimed at strengthening academic and research capacity to support doctoral students’ study progress. These programs include enhanced research methodology training, data analysis assistance for dissertation proposal writing, and supervision of research results, planned to take place during the second, third, and fifth semesters.

Representing UNPAZ, Cipriano Rosario Paiceco, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Medicine, expressed his gratitude for FPH UI’s support and collaboration. “We are proud that eleven of our lecturers are now doctoral students at FPH UI. The process has not been easy, but the support from UI—especially from FPH—has been invaluable, giving us confidence to complete our studies on time,” said Mr. Cipriano.

This visit also opened opportunities for broader collaboration, including joint research projects, guest lectures, and participation in international seminars regularly organized by FPH UI. These efforts are expected to not only strengthen student capacity but also foster institutional development in a sustainable manner.

The event concluded with a networking lunch, providing a friendly and collaborative space for both institutions to build stronger connections. The warm and collegial atmosphere reflected the growing synergy between UNPAZ and FPH UI.

This second visit marks an important milestone in the academic partnership between the two institutions. With shared commitment and mutual trust, FPH UI and UNPAZ remain optimistic about making meaningful contributions to the advancement of public health sciences in both Indonesia and Timor-Leste. (EAR)
