Dr. Laila Fitria, the Education Manager of FPH UI, provided general information about FPH UI, along with details about the Bachelor’s Program in Public Health. “FPH UI offers 4 undergraduate programs: the Bachelor’s Program in Public Health, the Bachelor’s Program in Nutrition, the Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Health, and the Bachelor’s Program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). All of these programs have been nationally accredited as excellent, and additionally, the Public Health and Nutrition programs are also internationally accredited,” Dr. Laila explained. She also shared information on admission selection, tuition fees, scholarships, capacity, teaching methods, and facilities.
Furthermore, Dr. Hendra, the Secretary of the Department of OHS, provided an overview of the Bachelor’s Program in OHS. “OHS is about studying how to ensure workers are safe and healthy. The field of OHS is divided into five main pillars: occupational health, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and human factors and behavior,” Dr. Hendra explained.
OHS is one of the branches of public health that is closely related to environmental health. FPH UI also offers a Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Health, which was discussed by Dr. Ema Hermawati, the Head of the Program. “Environmental health is about studying how the environment affects health. The learning process involves various media, not just classroom learning, but also fieldwork that students must engage in,” Dr. Ema explained.
Next, Dr. Diah provided information about the Bachelor’s Program in Nutrition. “There are three main pillars in nutrition: clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service. Graduates of the Nutrition program at FPH UI will likely work in these fields, but they may also pursue other careers such as nutripreneurs, academics, researchers, and more,” Dr. Diah explained.
Through this visit, FPH UI hopes that the information provided will offer new insights into public health knowledge. It is expected that this knowledge will help the students make informed decisions about their future studies as they prepare to continue their education at the university level. (wrk)
