Depok, June 2, 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) has taken a significant step towards advancing international standards in health education by undergoing a site visit for accreditation from the Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS). The accreditation process, held on June 2–3, 2025, involves two study programs from FPH UI: the Bachelor of Nutrition and the Master of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs. Additionally, the Master of Nursing Science program from UI’s Faculty of Nursing (FIK) was also included in this prestigious international assessment.
Previously, FPH UI earned AHPGS international accreditation for three of its study programs in 2023: the Bachelor of Public Health, the Master of Public Health, and the Master of Hospital Administration programs.
This accreditation effort reflects FPH UI’s commitment to providing higher education that is excellent, competent, responsive to change, and capable of addressing global public health challenges.
“We’re not only aiming for quality standards, but also demonstrating the courage to reflect, improve, and innovate,” stated Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FPH UI. “This AHPGS accreditation process is a strategic moment for us to assess the strength of our academic system while creating space for improvement as we prepare for a more competitive and sustainable future,” he added.
The Bachelor of Nutrition program at FPH UI focuses on producing graduates proficient in dietetics, community nutrition, and nutrition program management, particularly during the critical 1,000 Days of Life (1000 HPK) period.
In 2017, the Bachelor of Nutrition program received ASEAN-level recognition through accreditation by AUN-QA. Since then, internationalization efforts have continued through the UI Creates program, in collaboration with various international university partners. AHPGS accreditation represents the program’s ongoing commitment to expanding global recognition and strengthening international networks.
Meanwhile, the Master of OHS program is designed to produce occupational health professionals equipped to meet the demands of Industry 5.0, digital transformation, and evolving global dynamics.
FPH UI has adopted a contextualized curriculum, transdisciplinary learning, and active involvement of alumni and industry partners as part of its educational transformation. This approach aligns with AHPGS’s expectations for institutions that excel not only on paper but also in social and professional impact.
The AHPGS site visit involved a thorough evaluation of the university, faculty, and study programs, covering governance, curriculum, teaching methods, quality assurance systems, and in-depth discussions with lecturers, students, alumni, and industry partners. For UI, this process is more than an administrative assessment—it is a profound academic reflection.
“UI is committed to delivering relevant, high-quality, and globally competitive higher education. International accreditations such as AHPGS are part of our continuous improvement and benchmarking efforts against the world’s best standards,” affirmed Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Rector of UI.
For FPH UI, this accreditation also serves as a platform for building stronger global networks. AHPGS recognition is expected to open broader opportunities for international collaboration, student exchange, and cross-border research.
FPH UI believes that the quality of higher education is not merely measured by facilities or technological sophistication, but by its tangible contributions to society and the resilience of national health systems. Graduates of FPH UI are expected not only to think critically but to act ethically and be sensitive to social issues.
Dean Prof. Mondastri further emphasized that FPH UI’s participation in this international accreditation aligns with Universitas Indonesia’s global vision—developing programs rooted in local relevance while competing and contributing on the global stage.
“We believe that being global does not mean losing our local essence. In fact, strong roots in Indonesia are a unique value in the eyes of the world,” concluded Prof. Mondastri.
