Depok, September 29, 2025 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), through its Undergraduate Program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), in collaboration with the Astra Honda Motor Foundation (AHM Foundation), held the Awarding Ceremony for the Short Movie Contest and TikTok Challenge as part of the 16th Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Expo. The event took place at the UI Convention Hall, attended by Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FPH UI; drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.K.K.K., Ph.D., Head of the OHS Department; Dr. Hendra, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Secretary of the OHS Department; Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate OHS Study Program; several OHS faculty members; as well as Ahmad Muhibbuddin, Chair of the Astra Honda Motor Foundation, and his team.
This event aimed to recognize participants who acted as change agents through creative works produced for the competition. A total of 201 submissions were collected, showing that road safety campaigns can be packaged in engaging and relatable ways for the younger generation.
In his opening remarks, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate OHS Study Program, emphasized the importance of students’ and the public’s role in promoting a culture of safe driving.
“This collaboration between FPH UI’s OHS Department and the Astra Honda Motor Foundation is a real example of our shared commitment to instill a culture of safety. Safe riding is not merely a skill—it’s a social responsibility that must be nurtured from an early age,” he stated, expressing appreciation to the AHM Foundation and the OHS Community (OHSC) of FPH UI as the organizing committee.
Similarly, Ahmad Muhibbuddin, Chair of the AHM Foundation, reaffirmed AHM’s ongoing commitment to road safety innovation.
“The Astra Honda Motor Foundation is strongly committed to promoting safe riding. We continuously evaluate and adapt our campaigns—from simple roadside activities to creative approaches that resonate with young people, such as short film and social media competitions. This collaboration with Universitas Indonesia, particularly FPH UI’s OHS Department, reflects our effort to build a culture of road safety through inspiration. The creativity of students and participants serves as a bridge for safety messages to reach wider communities,” he explained. He also expressed his hope that the partnership with FPH UI would produce new generations of road safety ambassadors in Indonesia.
Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FPH UI, shared her appreciation for the event.
“This activity is not only a platform for creativity but also a space to foster collective awareness of the importance of road safety. With Indonesia’s large number of riders, ethics and safety must be prioritized for everyone’s well-being,” she said. She also commended the inclusion of a blood donation drive as part of the event, reflecting the spirit of social responsibility.
Before announcing the winners, the judging overview session was held with Dr. Hendra, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Secretary of the OHS Department of FPH UI, and Arius Krypton Onarelli, M.Si., CICS, serving as judges. Under the theme “Safe Ride with Pride,” they discussed participants’ works and shared insights from the judging process.
Dr. Hendra highlighted the challenge of effectively communicating safety messages within a limited timeframe.
“Information doesn’t need to be lengthy because the target audience—motorcycle riders—are already familiar with riding routines. Often, the core theme, ‘Safe Ride with Pride,’ gets lost in the storytelling,” he explained.
He added, “Simple yet memorable messages are far more impactful than long, complex ones. Translating an idea into compelling communication media requires creativity. Participants who could deliver unique, clear, and engaging messages stood out in this competition.”
Meanwhile, Arius Krypton Onarelli emphasized the variety of creativity displayed.
“Participants showcased fresh ideas across different genres—educational, horror, drama, and comedy. The key differentiator among the entries was narrative strength. A strong story and innovative delivery make safety messages more engaging and easier to grasp. Besides creativity, technical quality—from pre-production to post-production—also determines the overall impact,” he explained.
