Depok, August 25, 2025 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) continues to expand its international network by exploring strategic collaboration with Hangzhou Medical College (HMC), China. The official meeting took place at Room PA 209 RIK UI on Monday (25/8) and marked the first step in building a synergistic academic partnership in the field of public health.
In his remarks, Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., emphasized that this collaboration presents a significant opportunity to strengthen the contributions of both institutions in advancing public health sciences.
“It is an honor for us to meet and collaborate with Hangzhou Medical College. This meeting represents a great opportunity to work together and explore joint programs. We hope this partnership will bring tangible benefits and broaden FPH UI’s role at the global level,” said Prof. Mondastri.
Hangzhou Medical College is a public medical higher education institution under the Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission. With four campuses across Hangzhou, HMC is renowned for its strengths in applied medicine and various health disciplines, including Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, and Public Health.
Deputy Dean of HMC, Dr. Li Yingjun, warmly welcomed this inaugural meeting.
“This is our first time at FPH UI, and we hope to establish a close collaboration. Moving forward, we look forward to discussions and the development of joint programs, especially in the field of public health,” he stated.
The discussion was productive with the participation of leaders and lecturers from both institutions. Among the topics highlighted under the Tri Dharma of Higher Education were recommendations for HMC Master’s graduates to pursue doctoral studies at FPH UI—since HMC currently does not offer a PhD program. This pathway would also open opportunities for HMC faculty members to serve as co-promoters in doctoral research.
The HMC delegation included Dr. Li Yingjun (Deputy Dean, School of Public Health), Dr. Xu Huadong (Academic Deputy Dean), Dr. Xu Dengfeng (Assistant Dean), Dr. Yang Ye (Lecturer), and four postgraduate students. From FPH UI, attendees included Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc. (Dean); Prof. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D. (Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations, and Venture); Prof. Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, S.K.M., M.D.M. (Head of the Department of Health Administration and Policy); Dr. dr. Helda, M.Kes. (Head of Doctoral Program in Epidemiology); Dr. Tri Yunis Miko (Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology); and Fitri Kurniasari, Ph.D. (Lecturer, Department of Environmental Health).
In addition to the collaboration discussions under the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the HMC delegation also delivered a public lecture on Environmental Health: Toxicology and Data-Driven Research, which was open to both FPH UI students and the public.
Through this engagement, both parties expressed hopes for establishing long-term cooperation encompassing curriculum development, collaborative research, student exchanges, and joint academic programs. This initiative further strengthens FPH UI’s commitment to delivering globally competitive education, research, and innovation in public health.
