FPH UI Enhances Academic Community’s Information Literacy through Pusinfokesmas Vaganza 2025

Depok, August 20, 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI), through the Public Health Information Center (Pusinfokesmas), once again held Pusinfokesmas Vaganza 2025 on August 19–20, 2025. Carrying the theme “It’s Time to Level Up Your Information Literacy!”, this event reflects FPH UI’s commitment to strengthening information literacy and research competencies for the academic community, from undergraduate to doctoral levels.

Over the course of two days, participants received four key training sessions designed to address academic needs in the digital era. The first session, Literature Search and Zotero, introduced skills in automated reference management, use of FPH UI’s digital collection catalog, and proper citation strategies. This was followed by SCOPUS Guidance, which equipped participants with systematic search techniques using Boolean operators, subject headings, and advanced features to improve the quality of scientific searches.

On the second day, Initial Search for Various Literature Reviews broadened students’ understanding of different types of databases and offered tips for selecting the most relevant sources for research topics. Concluding the program, the session on Comprehensive Search in SCOPUS & PubMed provided advanced guidance, including techniques for building search strings for systematic reviews—particularly valuable for master’s and doctoral students.

Coordinator of Pusinfokesmas FPH UI, Fikri Wijaya, S.Sos., emphasized the importance of this initiative amid the rapid flow of information and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). “Pusinfokesmas Vaganza is expected to sharpen students’ sensitivity toward information literacy. Students must get used to accessing credible sources, mastering systematic database searches, and processing information with adequate skills. Especially in the AI era, technology use should not be reckless but must be accompanied by proper understanding,” he stated.

Held in a hybrid format, the event offered flexibility for participants from various study programs. On-site participants had the opportunity for hands-on practice and intensive discussions with librarians, while online participants enjoyed interactive sessions via Zoom, complete with documentation and access to learning materials.
