Depok, 6 December 2025 — In an effort to strengthen its position as a world-class faculty of public health and to expand international collaboration networks, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) conducted a strategic working visit to Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) and Handan University, China, on 1–4 December 2025. The visit was led by the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Dr. Milla Herdayati, S.K.M., M.Si., and the Manager for Cooperation, Alumni Relations, and Ventures, Prof. Dr. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K.
This initiative reaffirmed FPH UI’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through international partnerships oriented toward high-quality research development, academic mobility, and globally competitive educational programs. The signing of a Cooperation Agreement between FPH UI and Peking University marked a significant milestone, opening opportunities for collaborative research, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of globally relevant public health curricula.
The collaborative visit began on 1 December 2025 with the official signing meeting of the Cooperation Agreement between FPH UI and Peking University, held at PKUHSC. The meeting concluded with in-depth discussions on potential academic collaborations, including joint research in epidemiology, environmental health, disaster studies, and global health, as well as plans for student exchange programs.
Further discussions also explored alignment of long-term agendas, including the development of joint research clusters and the possibility of organizing an Indonesia–China public health summer school.
On 2 December 2025, Prof. Mondastri was invited as a guest speaker in a public lecture entitled “Sharing Experiences in Health-Related Disaster Research: Insight from Indonesia” at PKUHSC. In this session, Prof. Mondastri shared Indonesia’s experience in disaster-related research, ranging from public health responses to natural disasters to the development of adaptive research frameworks for disaster-prone countries. The lecture was warmly received by PKUHSC students and academic staff, who actively engaged in discussions that further strengthened the potential for cross-country collaborative research.
The visit continued to Handan University on 3 December 2025, where the FPH UI delegation held an official meeting to explore new collaboration opportunities. Discussions covered potential partnerships in public health research, student exchanges, and the development of learning programs in global health and epidemiology. Handan University expressed strong interest in establishing formal cooperation and positioning FPH UI as a strategic academic partner.
This four-day working visit reinforced FPH UI’s reputation as a faculty with an active and productive global network. Beyond opening opportunities for long-term research collaboration, the visit also laid a strong foundation for the development of increasingly competitive academic programs at the international level.
Through this series of meetings and the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, FPH UI reaffirmed its role as an educational institution ready to collaborate, share knowledge, and generate public health innovations with broad impact for Indonesia and the global community. (wrk)
