FPH UI Holds Faculty Academic System Orientation (PSAF) Extension Program 2025: Forward to Impact

Depok, August 16, 2025 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia (UI), organized the Faculty Academic System Orientation (PSAF) for new students of the 2025 Public Health Undergraduate Extension/RPL Program. The event was held online via Zoom Meeting under the theme Forward to Impact. This program marked the first step for extension students to understand the academic system, values, and learning ecosystem at FPH UI.

Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., in her welcoming remarks, congratulated the new students. “Congratulations on your achievement in becoming students of Universitas Indonesia. We know it was not easy to reach this point, and we are proud of your perseverance and determination that led you to be part of the best university in the country,” she said. Prof. Mondastri also highlighted Universitas Indonesia’s achievements at both national and global levels. This year, UI made history by ranking 189th in the world—the only Indonesian university within the top 200. In the health sciences field, FPH UI, together with the Faculty of Medicine, continues to hold the top position in Indonesia. “For the past 60 years, FPH UI has contributed significantly to the nation and society. May these achievements inspire students to be more confident and committed to improving public health quality,” she added.

Furthermore, Prof. Mondastri emphasized the importance of upholding UI’s core values in every aspect of academic life. These values include honesty, fairness, trustworthiness, dignity, responsibility, solidarity, openness, academic freedom, and compliance with regulations. “FPH UI is committed to safeguarding UI’s nine core values as a life guideline for all members of the academic community,” she concluded. The reinforcement of these values was also delivered by Nurul Dina Rahmawati, S.Gz., M.Sc., Secretary of the Department of Nutrition at FPH UI, who underscored honesty, fairness, trustworthiness, and academic freedom as essential principles for every student.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., presented the undergraduate curriculum, including the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer mechanisms as a form of flexibility and acknowledgment of previous learning achievements. “RPL and credit transfer allow students to receive recognition for learning outcomes from formal education in other study programs at previous universities, including through student exchange or other university-recognized programs,” explained Dr. Asih. The undergraduate curriculum consists of compulsory courses covering university, cluster, faculty, and study program subjects, as well as electives. One credit (SKS) equals 45 learning hours per semester conducted over 16 weeks, except for certain types of learning activities. Through this scheme, students may apply for credit transfer from relevant courses taken at UI or other accredited universities.

Technological readiness at FPH UI was another highlight of this year’s PSAF. Eddy Afriansyah, S.Kom., M.Si., Coordinator of the IT Unit at FPH UI, introduced various IT services supporting learning, including the Learning Management System (LMS) or EMAS as the main platform for online classes. FPH UI is also equipped with Wi-Fi access across indoor and outdoor areas. In addition, new extension students received explanations about academic registration and grading systems from Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Manager of Education at FPH UI, who stressed the importance of administrative discipline to ensure a smooth study journey. “Students must understand from the beginning that academic administration is a crucial foundation for successful studies. Following procedures with discipline will help students graduate on time,” said Dr. Laila.

Beyond academics, student mental health also received special attention during PSAF. Qaishum Masturoh, M.Psi., Psychologist from Makara Clinic UI, reminded students of the importance of mental balance amidst demanding activities. She explained that good mental health enables students to realize their potential, manage stress, and contribute optimally to their surroundings. The 2025 PSAF Extension Program is expected not only to equip new students with essential knowledge but also to inspire them to become excellent graduates, ready to move #ForwardtoImpact and make a real difference in advancing public health in Indonesia.
