On Monday, July 29, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed 11 students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ), Universitas Nasional Timor Lorosae (UNTL), and Universitas Putra Malaysia (UPM). These students are participants of the University of Indonesia Credit Earning (UI-CREATES) Department of Nutrition FPH UI program for 2024, or Nutrition UI-CREATES, and will be in Indonesia for two weeks (July 28 – August 3, 2024). Participants of the Nutrition UI-CREATES program are eligible to earn two credits and an official transcript from UI upon completing the entire program.
The opening ceremony of Nutrition UI-CREATES was attended by all participants and faculty from UNPAZ and the Department of Nutrition at FPH UI. In her opening speech, the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., emphasized the benefits of the program for the participants. “This event serves as a valuable platform for learning and sharing knowledge, encouraging active participation, and expanding international networking,” said Prof. Mondastri. The UI-CREATES program is attractive not only because of its academic focus but also because it incorporates cultural aspects and soft skills development. FPH UI is committed to providing the best instructors to ensure the comprehensive learning experience for the participants. “We are very excited and happy to welcome you to our campus,” she added.
The Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Medicine at UNPAZ, Cipriano do Rosario Pacheco, expressed his appreciation to FPH UI for organizing UI-CREATES this year. “We are pleased that the students can gain both academic and non-academic experiences outside of their home institutions. We would like to express our gratitude, especially to FPH UI, for hosting this event,” said Mr. Pacheco.
As part of the official opening, representatives from each university signed a cooperation agreement, and a token of appreciation from FPH UI was symbolically presented to one of the participants. After the formal opening, the UI-CREATES program, organized by the Department of Nutrition at FPH UI, included a faculty tour and games, starting with a program briefing by Dr. Ir. Diah Mulyawati Utari, M.Kes., from the Department of Nutrition. During the UI-CREATES event, several members of the Association of Nutrition Families (AKG) will serve as student buddies.
The Nutrition UI-CREATES program includes guest lectures, cultural visits, field visits to community-based health services (such as Posyandu and Posbindu), and other exciting activities.
It is hoped that this program will provide a valuable opportunity for participants to understand the nutritional conditions in Indonesia as well as learn about Indonesian culture. Moreover, through Nutrition UI-CREATES, it is expected that participants will have the chance to build networks with students from other countries.
On this special occasion, representatives from UNPAZ, including Cipriano do Rosario Pacheco, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Medicine at UNPAZ, and Tomas Elvis Fatima, Lecturer from the Faculty of Public Health and Medicine at UNPAZ, were present. Delegates from FPH UI included Dr. Ir.
