FPH UI Provides Study Program Information to MAN Insan Cendekia OKI Students

On Monday, July 29, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a study visit from MAN Insan Cendekia OKI, Palembang. Aimed at learning about the study programs and academic activities at FKM UI, 95 students from MAN Insan Cendekia OKI were welcomed in the FKM UI Doctoral Promotion Room. The visit featured presentations by Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., FKM UI’s Academic Manager, and Tria Rahma, S.K.L., Academic Administration Staff.

“Hopefully, the visit from MAN Insan Cendekia OKI today will provide new insights not only for the students but also for the accompanying teachers. The knowledge gained here can later serve as a foundation for strengthening their decision when choosing a program during university admission,” Dr. Laila said in her opening remarks.

During the presentation, Tria Rahma provided an overview of FKM UI, including information about the university’s selection process for new students, tuition fees, curriculum, and student activities. “FKM UI offers four undergraduate programs: Public Health, Nutrition, Environmental Health, and Occupational Health and Safety. All of these have received excellent accreditation nationally, and two programs, Public Health and Nutrition, have also earned international accreditation,” explained Tria.

“According to data from 2023, SIMAK UI is the most competitive entrance exam compared to SNBP, SNBT, and PPKB. The most popular programs in 2023 were the Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Occupational Health and Safety,” she added.

Dr. Laila further explained various scholarships, student mobility programs, and the differences between each program at FKM UI. “UI offers various types of scholarships accessible to all students via the beasiswa.ui.ac.id website. As for student mobility, FKM UI has many students who are IISMA awardees, and there are several UI CREATES programs that involve reciprocal exchanges, where not only international students come to FKM for studies but also FKM students go abroad, such as to Inje University in Korea for a two-week study program,” Dr. Laila elaborated.

IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) is a scholarship scheme from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology that funds Indonesian students who wish to study for one semester at renowned universities abroad. Meanwhile, UI CREATES (Universitas Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students) is an academic mobility program designed to facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate students from partner universities abroad to participate in short-term programs with academic credits at UI.

The visitors were enthusiastic about the presentations, and they actively participated in the discussion, asking various questions that made the session dynamic. (wrk)
