On November 19, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a visit from SMA Bosowa Bina Insani Bogor. The visit, which took place in the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room, aimed to provide deeper insights to students about the study programs and academic life at FPH UI. Over 100 participants from SMA Bina Insani Bogor attended the event.
Dr. Laila Fitira, S.K.M., M.K.M., Manager of Education at FPH UI, opened the session with an overview of FPH UI. In her presentation, Dr. Laila explained the various study programs, achievements, and contributions of FPH UI in the development of public health knowledge, as well as its role in producing competent professionals in the health sector. FPH UI, with its international reputation, focuses on the development of quality education, research, and community service in supporting health development in Indonesia.
Next, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.K.M., M.Si., Head of the Environmental Health Bachelor’s Program, gave a detailed explanation about the Environmental Health Bachelor’s Program at FPH UI. Dr. Ema explained that this program aims to produce graduates who are capable of identifying, analyzing, and addressing environmental health issues that impact the community. She also emphasized the crucial role of Environmental Health graduates in supporting sustainable development and creating a healthy environment for the people of Indonesia.
In addition, Dr. Hendra, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Head of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Laboratory at FPH UI, also provided information about the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Bachelor’s Program. “The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Bachelor’s Program at FPH UI prepares students to face challenges in creating a safe and healthy work environment. This education not only focuses on understanding health risks in the workplace but also on implementing effective OHS policies to reduce workplace accidents and occupational diseases,” explained Dr. Hendra.
The event was also attended by four students from the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FPH UI, who represented each of the bachelor’s programs at FPH UI. They shared their experiences about campus life, lecture dynamics, and various student activities that support personal development. The students answered various questions from the SMA Bosowa Bina Insani students, providing direct insight into university life at FPH UI, and shared tips and motivation for success in higher education.
This visit provided SMA Bosowa Bina Insani students with the opportunity to gain clearer and more comprehensive information about FPH UI, as well as broaden their horizons regarding educational and career opportunities in public health. It is hoped that this visit will motivate the students to pursue studies in public health in the future. (wrk)
