On January 20, 2025, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from SMA Negeri 2 Kediri. This visit served as an opportunity for information exchange and experience-sharing between FPH UI and the students who are interested in pursuing education in public health, nutrition, environmental health, and occupational health and safety (OHS).
Held at the Doctoral Promotion Room, the Education Manager of FPH UI extended a warm welcome to the visiting participants, stating, “We are very pleased to receive a visit from SMA Negeri 2 Kediri. We hope that through this activity, the students can get to know FPH UI better and be motivated to join us in creating a generation that cares for and contributes to public health.”
In addition to delivering the welcome address, the Education Manager of FPH UI provided a general explanation about FPH UI, including a brief history, the student admission selection process, tuition fees, facilities, scholarship programs, and student achievements. This information gave the students an overview of the learning environment at FPH UI, which supports both academic and non-academic development.
Dr. rer. medic. Putri Bungsu, S.K.M., M.Epid., the Secretary of the Bachelor of Public Health Program, explained in detail about the Bachelor of Public Health Program. The session covered topics such as the curriculum, career opportunities, and the role of graduates in addressing various public health issues at the local and global levels. “The Bachelor of Public Health Program at FPH UI aims to produce graduates who are competent in identifying, analyzing, and providing solutions to various public health issues at local, national, and global levels. The curriculum is designed to provide a deep understanding of epidemiology, health policy, health promotion, health management, and various social and environmental issues. With an interdisciplinary approach, this program equips students with skills in data analysis, research, and communication needed to support public health improvement. Graduates of this program have a wide range of career opportunities, including in healthcare institutions, international organizations, government agencies, and the private sector,” explained Dr. Putri Bungsu.
Meanwhile, Triyanti, S.K.M., M.Sc., the Secretary of the Bachelor of Nutrition Program, presented the profile of the bachelor’s degree in nutrition, including the curriculum designed to produce graduates who are competent in community nutrition, current nutrition issues, career opportunities, and the achievements of students in the Bachelor of Nutrition Program.
During the presentation of the Bachelor of Environmental Health Program, Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H., the Secretary of the Bachelor of Environmental Health Program, gave an overview of the program. The students were introduced to the importance of maintaining and improving environmental quality to support public health as a whole. “The Bachelor of Environmental Health Program at FPH UI focuses on studying the relationship between the environment and human health. In this program, you will learn how to maintain and improve environmental quality, such as water, air, and soil, to ensure they remain healthy for humans. You will also learn how to address pollution, manage waste, and prevent diseases caused by unhealthy environments,” said Dr. Al.
Through this visit, the students from SMA Negeri 2 Kediri gained new insights into FPH UI and the various study options offered. This activity is expected to inspire the participants in making informed decisions about their choice of major when pursuing higher education in the future. (wrk)
