FPH UI Students Win 2024 National Exemplary Health Worker Award

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) is once again proud of one of its students, Lami Trisetiawati, S.K.M. A student of the Master’s Program in Public Health at FPH UI, who is also a member of the Quality Committee at the National Brain Center Hospital (RSPON) Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono Jakarta, has earned a prestigious national award. On August 13, 2024, at the Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue, Lami was named the National Exemplary Medical and Health Personnel in the category of Health Innovation. The award was presented by the Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD., Ph.D., KEMD., in recognition of her outstanding dedication and contributions to the health sector.

The 2024 National Exemplary Medical and Health Personnel and Outstanding Cadres Award is a prestigious event honoring 230 individuals. The recipients include medical and health personnel from various healthcare facilities, both public and private, as well as posyandu (community health post) cadres from all over Indonesia. Out of the total recipients, 169 awards were given specifically to exemplary medical and health personnel in four categories: innovation, remote and border areas (DTPK), boundless service, and disaster or health crisis response officers.

This award aims to recognize the contributions and achievements of individuals, while also motivating healthcare workers to continue dedicating themselves to the creation of a healthier society. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), as the organizer of this award, carried a special theme: “Exemplary Medical and Health Personnel and Outstanding Cadres Serving the Nation, Towards Golden Indonesia 2045.” This theme reflects respect for the dedication, work achievements, innovations, and active roles of human resources in health in supporting the success of health development.

The innovation initiated by Lami aims to bring significant changes to the patient handling process for code stroke cases through the use of rTPA therapy. rTPA (recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator) is a treatment used to dissolve blood clots that cause blockages in blood vessels, particularly in cases of acute ischemic stroke. Ischemic stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is disrupted by a blood clot. From a service quality perspective, Lami’s innovation focuses on improving response times, enabling interventions to be carried out more quickly and efficiently. “From a patient safety perspective, this approach is expected to result in clinical improvements. Timely administration of rTPA therapy has been proven to significantly reduce stroke severity scores based on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS),” Lami explained. Through proper implementation, this innovation not only serves as a foundation for improving healthcare service quality but also ensures optimal patient safety for stroke patients.

The selection process for award recipients is conducted transparently and in stages, starting from the regional level up to the national level. This approach ensures that the candidate nomination process is open and free from nepotism. This makes Lami’s achievement a reflection of the dedication and quality of Indonesia’s healthcare workforce, as well as a source of pride for FPH UI.

Through a social media post, Lami Trisetiawati expressed her gratitude for the achievement. “This award is one of the great blessings given by Allah SWT,” she wrote, describing the award as a gift and motivation to continue giving her best in her dedication to the healthcare field. She also explained that the innovation she developed through her work on the hospital’s quality committee is expected to bring significant benefits to the hospital, society, and the nation. “Thank you to everyone involved. Through our collective commitment to improving service quality, this innovation has finally come to fruition,” Lami added.

The achievement of Lami Trisetiawati not only serves as personal pride but also reflects FPH UI’s commitment to carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the areas of education, research, and community service. As one of Indonesia’s leading public health education institutions, FPH UI continues to strive to produce students who are not only excellent academically but also capable of making tangible contributions to the nation’s health development. This achievement serves as clear evidence that FPH UI students are ready to be agents of change in realizing a healthier and more prosperous Indonesia, aiming for Golden Indonesia 2045.

“As the Dean representing the entire FPH UI community, we feel extremely proud and grateful for the national award presented to Lami Trisetiawati, S.K.M., a student in the Master’s Program in Public Health at FPH UI. The award received by Lami Trisetiawati, as the National Exemplary Health Personnel of 2024 in the innovation category, is a prestigious achievement. In addition to her motivation, intelligence, dedication, and perseverance, the innovation she developed is also a tangible proof of UI’s support for both students and faculty in creating outstanding and socially impactful technological innovations, particularly in addressing Indonesia’s increasingly complex public health challenges,” said Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FPH UI.

Prof. Mondastri also hopes that Lami Trisetiawati’s achievement can serve as an exemplary example that will inspire and motivate all members of the academic community, both students and faculty, to present their best achievements for UI and Indonesia. (DFD)
