Depok, October 8, 2025 – The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from Permata Insani Islamic School, Tangerang. The event took place at the Doctoral Promotion Room, FPH UI.
The visit was received by Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Education Manager of FPH UI; Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Study Program; and Dr. Eng. Stevan Debi Anbiya Muhammad Sunarno, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Secretary of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Laila Fitria presented an overview of FPH UI and introduced two undergraduate study programs—Nutrition and Environmental Health. She explained the important roles these disciplines play in protecting and improving public health.
“Introducing the field of health at the school level is a crucial step in fostering awareness and concern among young generations toward public health issues. We hope visits like this can inspire students to take part in advancing health development in the future,” said Dr. Laila.
Meanwhile, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the OHS Study Program, discussed the strategic role of Occupational Health and Safety across various industrial and organizational sectors.
“OHS is not only about ensuring safety in the workplace but also about protecting workers’ physical and mental well-being. Graduates of FPH UI’s OHS program are equipped with risk analysis, hazard control, and safety policy skills that prepare them to contribute effectively in professional settings,” he explained.
Dr. Eng. Stevan Debi Anbiya Muhammad Sunarno, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Secretary of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program, also shared insights on the broad scope of public health and the career opportunities it offers.
“Public health focuses on prevention and health promotion at the population level. Our students not only learn theory but also apply their knowledge directly through research and community engagement, making a tangible impact on people’s lives,” he stated.
Through this visit, the students gained a comprehensive understanding of higher education in public health and had the opportunity to interact directly with FPH UI faculty members.
FPH UI hopes that such visits will foster students’ interest in the field of public health while strengthening the faculty’s role in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—particularly in education and community service—through health education and promotion for the younger generation.
