FPH UI Welcomes Students from Santo Yoseph Catholic High School Denpasar: Introducing the World of Public Health and Academic Life at FPH UI

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from students of Santo Yoseph Catholic High School in Denpasar, Bali. Held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at FPH UI’s Doctoral Promotion Room, the visit served as a valuable opportunity to introduce the field of public health and offer students an inside look into academic life at FPH UI.

The visit aimed to broaden students’ perspectives on academic options within the field of public health and support their preparation for university entrance selection. In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Academic Manager of FPH UI, emphasized the importance of understanding public health as a strategic field that plays a vital role in improving quality of life across various sectors.

Dr. Laila also provided a comprehensive overview of FPH UI, covering topics such as academic programs, curriculum, learning methods, student admission processes, tuition, enrollment capacity, and learning activities including field visits and community-based practice. “FPH UI is a higher education institution focused on the development of public health sciences, offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. At the undergraduate level, FPH UI offers four programs: Public Health, Nutrition, Environmental Health, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS),” she explained. She added that students are equipped with an adaptive and collaborative curriculum designed to address the ever-evolving challenges in public health.

The visit also included introductory sessions for each undergraduate program delivered by the heads and secretaries of the respective study programs. Present at the event were Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.K.M., M.Si., Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Program; Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Undergraduate Program; and Stevan Anbiya, Ph.D., Secretary of the Public Health Undergraduate Program. They shared insights about the curriculum, career prospects, and the societal impact of each discipline. The interactive session was met with enthusiasm, as students actively posed questions and engaged in discussions with the speakers.

This visit is expected to inspire and motivate students in choosing study paths that align with their interests and talents, while also raising awareness of the essential role of public health professionals in shaping the future of the nation. (wrk)
