On Friday, June 7, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a visit from the Faculty of Medicine at Mahasarakham University to explore potential collaborations in the fields of education and research. The meeting took place at the FPH UI meeting room, located on the 3rd floor of the A Building, RIK. The discussion centered around establishing joint efforts in these areas to benefit both institutions.
“It is an honor for FPH UI to collaborate with the Faculty of Medicine at Mahasarakham University. Through this initial discussion, we hope to foster concrete collaborations, particularly in education and research, which will be greatly beneficial to both parties,” said Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FPH UI, in his welcoming speech. He also introduced FPH UI’s profile and highlighted previous and ongoing collaborations with both domestic and international partners.
The main topic of discussion was a potential collaboration in education, where the Faculty of Medicine, Mahasarakham University, offered scholarships for FPH UI students wishing to pursue a master’s degree in Thailand. The full scholarship is for the Master of Science in Tropical Health Innovation program. “Our purpose in visiting FPH UI is to offer full scholarships to FPH UI graduates who wish to pursue the Master of Science in Tropical Health Innovation at our faculty. We also provide research and conference funding for students who will receive the scholarship. We believe this is a great opportunity to develop education and research through the collaboration between FPH UI and the Faculty of Medicine, Mahasarakham University,” said Assistant Professor Dr. Teabpaluck Sirithanawutichai, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Mahasarakham University.
In addition to Prof. Mondastri’s remarks, Prof. Dr. dr. Sabarinah, M.Sc., a distinguished professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Population Studies at FPH UI, also expressed support for the collaboration. Prof. Sabarinah emphasized the benefits that FPH UI students would gain from continuing their education at the master’s level and advancing their research skills.
Other attendees included Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Academic Manager of FPH UI; Dien Anshari, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., Student Affairs Manager at FPH UI; Dr. dr. Tri Yunis Miko, M.Sc., a lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology at FPH UI; Dr. Lhuri Dwianti Rahmartani, B.Med.Sc., M.Epid., D.Phil, from the Center for Health Research Studies at FPH UI; Drs. Dadun, M.Kes., Ph.D., and Assistant Professor Dr. Choosak Nithikathkul, Director of the Tropical Health Innovation Research Unit and Director of the Ph.D. in Health Science Programme at the Faculty of Medicine, Mahasarakham University.
This meeting marks a significant step toward fostering international collaboration and promoting academic and research excellence between both institutions.
