The Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia (UI), welcomed students from SMAN 77 and SMAN 78 Jakarta on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Held at the Doctoral Promotion Room of FPH UI, this visit aimed to introduce the various study programs offered at FPH UI to high school students.
The visit was warmly received by speakers who delivered engaging presentations on academic programs and career opportunities in the field of public health. The speakers included Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., Academic Manager of FPH UI; Dr. Fathimah S. Sigit, M.Res., Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Nutrition Program; Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program; and Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H., Secretary of the Undergraduate Environmental Health Program.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Laila Fitria emphasized the importance of early exposure to public health. “Public health is the foundation of the national health system. By understanding this role and enrolling as students at FPH UI, the younger generation—especially these soon-to-be university students—can take part in building a healthier and more prosperous society,” said Dr. Laila.
The session continued with presentations from each program head. Dr. Fathimah S. Sigit explained the critical role of nutrition science in improving public quality of life, particularly in today’s health-challenged era. Meanwhile, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., introduced the concept of OSH as a vital component in ensuring workplace safety across industries and institutions. Dr. Al Asyary also elaborated on the strategic role of Environmental Health graduates in addressing environmental issues that impact public health.
The students showed great enthusiasm, actively participating and asking questions about scholarships, curriculum details, career prospects, and campus life at FPH UI.
This event is expected to broaden students’ understanding of the diverse career paths in public health and inspire them to pursue higher education, especially at FPH UI.
