Depok, 19 November 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again served as an educational destination for high school students seeking deeper insight into the world of public health. On Wednesday (19/11), FPH UI welcomed groups of students and teachers from SMA Negeri 21 Jakarta and MAN 21 North Jakarta for a campus visit held at the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room. Through this activity, FPH UI strengthened its commitment as an educational institution that is open to providing academic exposure and career inspiration for younger generations.
The visit was received by leaders of undergraduate programs and the academic management of FPH UI, including the Education Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; Head of the Undergraduate Nutrition Program, dr. Fathimah S. Sigit, M.Res., Ph.D.; Secretary of the Undergraduate Environmental Health Program, Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H.; Head of the Undergraduate Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc.; and Secretary of the Undergraduate Public Health Program, Dr. Eng. Stevan Deby Anbiya Muhammad Sunarno, S.K.M., M.K.K.K. The speakers delivered comprehensive explanations about the academic environment at FPH UI and the strengths of each undergraduate program.
In her remarks, Dr. Laila Fitria emphasized that FPH UI has a strong reputation as one of the leading public health faculties in Indonesia, with graduates contributing to government institutions, international organizations, hospitals, industries, and NGOs.
“FPH UI offers four undergraduate programs with distinct yet complementary focuses in improving population health. Students can enter FPH UI through various selection pathways, including national routes such as SNBP and SNBT, as well as independent pathways such as SIMAK UI and PPKB UI. We hope this visit provides a clear picture of our academic processes and the diverse career prospects in public health,” she stated.
Next, dr. Fathimah S. Sigit presented an overview of the Undergraduate Nutrition Program.
“Nutrition students at FPH UI gain scientific knowledge on fulfilling nutritional needs at both individual and population levels—from nutritional assessment to implementing interventions across different settings. Our graduates work as nutritionists, researchers, nutrition consultants, and professionals in the food industry,” she explained.
From the Undergraduate Environmental Health Program, Dr. Al Asyary highlighted the relevance of environmental health in today’s global challenges.
“We study environmental factors that affect health, such as water quality, sanitation, air pollution, and waste management. Environmental health graduates have wide career opportunities in government institutions, companies, environmental laboratories, and non-profit organizations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abdul Kadir, M.Sc., introduced the Undergraduate Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program.
“In OSH, students learn how to protect workers and work environments from accidents and occupational diseases. OSH graduates are highly needed in industries such as manufacturing, energy, construction, as well as government institutions. These competencies are increasingly important in the era of rapid industrial and technological development,” he noted.
Furthermore, Dr. Eng. Stevan Deby Anbiya Muhammad Sunarno emphasized the strategic role of public health science in national development.
“Public health encompasses fields such as epidemiology, health promotion, health policy, biostatistics, and health services management. This program is ideal for students who wish to contribute to health program planning, disease prevention, and health system development,” he stated.
The session continued with an interactive Q&A, where students showed great enthusiasm by asking about UI’s admission pathways, the learning experience at FPH UI, and career prospects in the health sector. The visit is expected to be an inspiring experience for students to gain closer familiarity with public health and to consider FPH UI as their future academic destination.
Through programs like this, FPH UI continues to affirm its role as an inclusive, inspiring, and impactful institution committed to shaping a generation that is knowledgeable and aware of public health issues. (wrk)
