The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas of Indonesia (UI) held the second Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) UI-CREATES program of the year. This OSH UI-CREATES program is specifically designed for international students at the master’s level. A total of 18 international students from various countries will participate in the program, which will run for one week, from August 4 to 11, 2024, at FPH UI.
The University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students (UI-CREATES) is an academic mobility program specially designed to facilitate undergraduate and graduate students from partner universities abroad to participate in short programs with academic credits at UI. In this OSH UI-CREATES program, participants will earn 2 credits upon completing the program.
“Through the OSH UI-CREATES program, you will learn various aspects of OSH from experts here at FPH UI. Not only will you study in the classroom, but you will also have the opportunity to visit field sites to broaden your knowledge. We hope this activity will enhance your understanding and interest in public health conditions in Indonesia, particularly in OSH, and serve as a platform to expand your network,” said Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarini, M.Sc., the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FPH UI, during her welcoming speech to the participants at the opening ceremony of OSH UI-CREATES, held on Monday, August 5, 2024, in the Doctoral Promotion Room at FPH UI.
Furthermore, the Head of the OSH Department at FPH UI, Mila Tedjamaya, S.Si., MOHS., Ph.D., provided an explanation of the OSH UI-CREATES program to the participants. “In this program, you will not only expand your knowledge of OSH but also have the chance to learn about Indonesian culture,” said Dr. Mila. During the program, participants will receive lectures on Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Safety at Work, Transportation Incident Investigation, Construction Safety in Indonesia, Management System of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment in Campus, OSH Regulation in Indonesia, and Fire Management and Explosion. Additionally, the participants will undertake industry visits to PT MRT Jakarta and cultural visits to Setu Babakan.
The participants of OSH UI-CREATES come from various countries, including China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Tanzania, and Nigeria. One participant from Tanzania, Ali Juma Khamis, shared his motivation for joining the OSH UI-CREATES program at FPH UI. “I joined this program because I am interested in public health issues in Indonesia, so I believe that joining this program is the best decision to gain new insights that I will later apply in my studies,” said Ali.
