This visit aimed to provide students with insights into higher education in public health and introduce them further to FPH UI.

Present at the visit were the Education Manager of FPH UI, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; the Head of the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program, Dr. Fathimah S. Sigit, M.Res., Ph.D.; and the Secretary of the Undergraduate Environmental Health Study Program, Dr. Al Asyary, S.K.M., M.P.H. The Education Manager of FPH UI provided general information about the faculty, including a brief history, its vital role in producing public health professionals, as well as details about the curriculum, tuition fees, student admission pathways, and facilities at FPH UI.

“FPH UI is the oldest Faculty of Public Health in Indonesia, offering four undergraduate programs, four master’s programs, and two doctoral programs. All study programs have received national accreditation with excellence, and three programs have received international accreditation,” said Dr. Laila in her presentation.

Students were also given further insights into the four undergraduate programs available at FPH UI:

  1. Public Health Study Program – Focuses on various aspects of public health, including health promotion, epidemiology, and health management.

  2. Nutrition Study Program – Facilitates learning related to nutrition and public health, emphasizing nutritional interventions to improve quality of life.

  3. Environmental Health Study Program – Examines the relationship between the environment and health, including waste management, air quality, and sanitation.

  4. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Study Program – Discusses strategies for workplace risk prevention and enhancing safety in various industrial environments.

The visiting students were very enthusiastic and actively asked questions about career opportunities, academic programs, and facilities available at FPH UI. This visit is expected to inspire them to pursue studies in public health and contribute to improving health in Indonesia.

Through visits like this, FPH UI continues to strive to open opportunities for high school students to gain a deeper understanding of academic life in public health and to build awareness of the crucial role of public health professionals in national development. (wrk)
