Depok, October 9, 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from SMA Negeri 3 Jambi on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Doctoral Promotion Room, FPH UI. This visit was part of the school’s effort to broaden students’ insights into higher education, particularly in the field of public health.
A total of 44 students and 4 accompanying teachers were warmly received by FPH UI’s Education Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; Head of the Undergraduate Program in Environmental Health, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.K.M., M.Si.; and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Public Health, Dr. Eng. Stevan Debi Anbiya Muhammad Sunarno, S.K.M., M.K.K.K.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Laila Fitria expressed her appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm to learn more about the world of public health. She introduced the various study programs and student activities at FPH UI, as well as the faculty’s role in shaping graduates who are both ethical and globally competitive. “FPH UI is one of the oldest faculties of public health in Indonesia, offering ten study programs across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. We are committed to producing graduates who excel academically while also possessing strong social awareness and leadership qualities,” said Dr. Laila.
Following that, Dr. Ema Hermawati provided an overview of the Undergraduate Program in Environmental Health, which focuses on creating a healthy and sustainable living environment through scientific approaches and public policy. “Students in Environmental Health learn how to prevent diseases and protect public health through the management of water, air, sanitation, and waste control. We aim to produce graduates who can serve as change agents in maintaining the balance between development and environmental sustainability,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Dr. Stevan Debi Anbiya discussed the broad scope of the Undergraduate Program in Public Health, which includes areas such as health promotion, epidemiology, health management, and occupational safety. “Public health is a strategic field because it focuses on prevention and improving the overall quality of life. Our graduates contribute to various sectors — from government agencies and hospitals to research institutions and international organizations,” he said.
The visit also featured an interactive Q&A session, enthusiastically joined by the students and teachers. They raised questions about the admission process, academic life, scholarships, and career opportunities in public health.
Through this activity, FPH UI hopes to inspire young generations to pursue higher education in public health and to strengthen the faculty’s role in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education — particularly in education and community service. (wrk)
