Introducing the Undergraduate Study Program, FPH UI Receives a Visit from SMK Harapan Bangsa Depok

“On this occasion, we will convey some information related to FPH UI, including general profiles, study program profiles, new student selection information, education costs, and so on. “Hopefully what we convey can provide new knowledge and strengthen the hearts of students to continue to FPH UI in the future,” said FPH UI Academic Manager, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M, in her remarks at the visit of students from SMK Harapan Bangsa Depok, Friday, June 7, 2024.

Participated by 105 students from SMK Harapan Bangsa Depok from the Pharmacy and Medical Laboratory Technology Study Program, this visit took place in the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room. Apart from being attended by the Academic Manager, there was also the Head of the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes.; Head of the Department of Nutrition, Dr. Ir. Trini Sudiarti, M.Sc.; and Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Sc., M.K.M., as resource person.

Head of the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes., conveyed information regarding the profile of the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program. “Public health is a different science from medicine. Public health studies how to prevent people from getting sick or preventive measures, while medicine seeks to treat people who are already sick or curative measures. Public health experts work at the community level, while doctors treat individual patients. “Those are some of the differences between public health and medicine, because there are still prospective students who ask questions about this,” said Dr. Robiana. The Undergraduate Public Health Study Program has the largest capacity among the four undergraduate programs owned by FPH UI. This is related to the specialization or specialty in the Public Health study program, which consists of specializations in Health Administration and Policy, Health Insurance Management, Biostatistics, Health Information Management, Epidemiology, Health Promotion, and Reproductive Health.

Furthermore, the Head of the Department of Nutrition, Dr. Ir. Trini Sudiarti, M.Si., conveyed information about the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program. “Increasing nutritional problems such as the increasing prevalence of both infectious and degenerative diseases which are rooted in malnutrition since pregnancy, and the emergence of obesity problems from an early age have become an impetus for the FPH UI Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program to produce graduates who can become professionals in “dealing with current and future nutritional problems,” said Dr. Trini. FPH UI Bachelor of Nutrition graduates are expected to be able to identify, understand, explain and formulate ways to solve nutritional problems and apply knowledge and skills in the field of nutrition in productive activities and services to the community.

Information regarding the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program was delivered by the Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M. “Environmental Health Bachelors at FPH UI are expected to be able to analyze environmental exposure risks, predict health impacts due to environmental exposure, and develop alternative solutions to environmental health problems in accordance with technological advances as well as applicable ethics and laws,” said Dr. Emma. Apart from Public Health, Nutrition and Environmental Health, FPH UI also has another Undergraduate Study Program, namely Occupational Safety and Health.

Meanwhile Dr. Laila Fitria explained some general information regarding FPH UI. Important information provided includes, among other things, the profile of FPH UI lecturers, student body, new student selection paths, capacity, strictness of each selection path, education costs, facilities and learning methods.

It is hoped that the information provided during this visit will provide insight for both students and accompanying teachers who attend. FPH UI hopes that the outreach provided through visits like this will further introduce the study programs at FPH UI to the wider community. (wrk)
